Wild Hogs?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0486946/
What the crap is this movie? Who the hell are the people that make up the 38 million dollars in buisiness it did opening this weekend. I have seen no commercials for it, and it seems to be reviewed quite poorly. 16% fresh, and 7% cream of the crop fresh. Oddest event picture ever. |
They had a commercial on the Super Bowl. I've also seen several ads for it.
It looks terrible. |
A miracle you've not seen a commercial for it. Looks like a steaming pile of feces but people seem to love it. Much in the same way they love Jeff Foxworthy.
Looks completely unfunny but 38 million people's dollars seem to disagree with my intial opinion on it. |
Is your TV broken? That's about the only way I can imagine you've missed the spots for this one, it's been heavy as hell since the Super Bowl commercial.
Interesting thing mentioned in one of the articles about the weekend box office is that it's the highest grossing debut ever for Travolta & the highest grossing non-animated debut for Allen. edit to add: Looking at imdb.com, it looks like it's Lawrence's biggest opening except Bad Boys II. |
I've seen it six times already, and I'm going to see it twice more tonight. GO TIM ALLEN!!!
|
I watched Home Improvement all the time as a kid, but now when I watch it, I realize how much it actually sucked. Now I avoid anything involving Tim Allen like dog shit.

Upon further review, I may just not watch that much TV anymore. Outside of NBA basketball on the local Fox Sports, and Spongebob I don't watch much else. Maybe I'm just out of the loop and don't follow movies as much as I used to, but I seriously hadn't even heard of it. 35m opening is the 20m opening of yesteryear I suppose, but it still seems like a huge number for what is basically a non-event type movie. I guess the people who went to see this were fans of stuff like City Slickers maybe? Other movies I never got the appeal for. |
Well I think it could be considering close to an "event type movie" in that it has 4 really good names in Allen, Travolta, Lawrence, and Macy. You have four guys who's normal work appeals to entirely different demographics.
It does sound horrid, but thats never been a barometer for box office disaster. |
I think the baseball-to-the-crotch scene is the funniest part of the movie. I'm going to see the movie twice tonight and once more tomorrow.
|
I happened to be home the day that Oprah had an episode that doubled as an informercial for this movie, and my wife watched it so I got to see the "preview." They did just about everything but lick each other's butts. I assume that was to be continued on Maury, but sadly, I missed that show.

36 million dollars this weekend. Maybe Pumpy is accountable for three, four hundred tops. WOOT!
|
Convincing Martin Lawrence to be in this thing was genuis - he has a proven ability to open crap movies all on his own, and in this instance, you're bring some of his audience to a "whiter" movie that they might not otherwise go to. And since Tim Allen's in it, people feel like they can bring their kids. Bizzare, but very clever, casting.

BRILLIANT! |

And don't forget John Travolta, who brings the gays. |

Tons of ads, just no reviews available anywhere before the movie came out. You need to put down that book or Newspaper and turn on the TV more often.:) That is why I am excited to see 300. They are having free PUBLIC screenings everywhere trying to generate a buzz. Free public screenings are always a good sign that the studio believes it has a great movie. |

dont include Galaxy Quest in that. that movie is outstanding. |
I like to think I stay up with this stuff, but I've honestly never heard of this flick, and I don't recall seeing a commercial for it during the Super Bowl.
edit -- Oh, wait reading further, I saw Tim Allen's name...must be the Harley flick where he stars with John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and William Macy. The name of the flick and visuals just didn't connect for some reason. |
Is Martin Lawrence in the Fat Momma suit?
|
Movie wasn't horrible, had some decent slapstick bits. Ray Liotta was able to channel Goodfellas as well.
In the end, it is one of the movies that is stupid enough that it works. |

Not really, I've been to numerous public screenings of absolutely asstastic movies. Especially with a genre movie, I don't know why they waste their chance to make money. 300 is going to appeal to a very small section of the public. See Serenity. That thing had an insane number of public screenings, and the movie generally bombed at the box office, since a decent number who saw it for free wasn't going to pay for it again, and the people who didn't see it for free wasn't going to see it anyway. |
I think this was one of those "Bill" Macy movies. William H needs to call PTA or the Coen's and wash himself of this filth.
|
Just got back from seeing it twice tonight. I'm taking the day off work tomorrow, so I'll bring the wife with me for tomorrow's viewing. Great movie. :)
|
Just watched it over the weekend (just opened in theaters here in the Philippines last week).
It's a great feel-good movie. Travolta and Macey were priceless. Martin Lawrence and Tim Allen were the weak links. But I think Liotta and the Del Fuegos stole the damn movie. :)

I enjoyed the movie, because it was just a simple funny movie. Sometimes I just want to escape reality and have a good time at the theater. |

Exactly. There are times when I watch a movie to think, and there are times I watch a movie to just relax and have fun. This was one of those movies. :) |
I dunno.. Galaxy Quest was a pretty decent tim allen movie.. not oscar award winning mind you..
any of the christmas movies with him however.. surely avoid :) |
How are the special features on the DVD pumpy?

I'm pretty sure he didn't get the DVD, but rather the master reel. |

I liked this movie. WHM was funny.
|
i thought this movie was pretty fun. It looked AWFUL, but i love going to the movies so me and my girlfriend went, with extremely low expectations.
we both had a blast. it's pretty funny, and you'll most likely have fun watching it. |
With very low expectations, this movie actually wasn't a complete waste of an hour and a half. Maybe it's because I have the maturity of a 17 year old but I found the camping out scene hilarious.
|
"You're not wearing any pants, are you?"
"No, I'm not." :d |
Okay, I haven't seen this movie, but it seems like it's "City Slickers on motorcycles". Not that I'm saying that's a bad thing necessarily, but it's the "grown up buddy movie", right?
|
Saw this on the weekend. Terrible.
Absolutely terrible. |
