PSP 2?
http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3725&Itemid=2
Interesting - built in 8 GB flash memory chips, amongst some other "upgrades". No mention of a 2nd analog stick though. |
Wow. I just got the first one. :)

That article is from August 2006. Is this still going to happen?
|
I've heard rumors of upgrades to the PSP (slimmer, more onboard memory, etc.) as well as addons like the Eye Toy and GPS. I really doubt that there will be a PSP2 anytime soon since the price is still the same as when it came out and the system hasn't generated different versions yet (ala the Gameboy with different colors).
That being said, the problem with it is that there aren't any "must have" games for it. Only recently have they come out with MGS: Portable Ops. Most games are stripped down console versions. |

I know that the PSP system is selling for $200 in most stores now (I saw it at Best Buy yesterday as an example). Didn't it start at a $250 price point? |

$200 is without the 32 mb memory card, case, or ear buds. That one is still $250. If you like baseball, some would argue that MLB The Show is a system seller. |
Yes, it did start at 250. I've also seen it selling for 200 at multiple places. Doing a quick google search, it appears there were a lot of speculative articles in 2006 that a PSP2 would be out by Christmas of 06. I don't see any articles with predictions for an 07 release.
Edit: Ahh, didn't realize the 200 dollar version was missing stuff as I never looked at them closely since I already have one. |
Whatever they do, they need to make the analog stick better. Mine broke, I ordered a new one (and of course, had to open it and void the warranty) and even after replacing it, it's still pretty terrible and doesn't work.
That said, I enjoyed it a lot. The system I mean. It's got a lot of potential. |
I like my PSP, just can't stand the loadtimes for a lot of games. Thank goodness for custom firmware and a memory stick.
|
And I'm sure they can take advantage of that backwards compatibility with the stellar PSP lineup--- oops, never mind
