*SPOILER TAG ANNOUNCEMENT ALERT!*
 

As you can see demonstrated above, thanks to Ryan S for installing the "Spoiler Tag Plug-In". In order to use it, you would use it the way you do any other tag - so {spoiler}spoiler info{/spoiler} (but of course []'s instead of {}'s).

This tag was put in by my request to the other mods. It is something that has come up time after time on the board and seemed like a no-brainer plug-in.

That being said, please don't make this the springboard to request a bunch of plug-ins to be added. We do not plan on implementing a bunch of plug-ins, this one just served a very specific need that has gone on for some time on the board. So, do not expect for a bunch of plug-ins to all of a sudden show up.

Great move...I always wondered why it wasn't here.

It'll be nice having this feature in about 3 months when the novelty of putting a pointless spoiler tag in every post wears off.

I definitely realize folks will play games with it for a little while. But like you said, a few months down the road it will be an integral part of posting around here.

still doesn't work if you put the spoiler tag in the first part of the post. One simple scroll over the topic on the main page, and it shows the text. Still, though, a good idea.

Wasn't aware of that - good to know. This was purely a plug-in that we vound on the vbb website, so it is what it is ;).

That's pretty cool actually. I had not seen that before. All I have seen is a spoilers box where it wrote grey text on a grey background.

I wonder how many people won't find about this tag, since they didn't read the thread.

Even better than that is the fact that it's being used in a situation like this, which had been my hope at least. Not to threadjack but the wiki does need quite a bit more work. I've been too busy to do it, but hopefully others can take up the cause.

I can't wait until the spoiler tag is used so many times as a joke, that when it is used for the real deal and someone innocently clicks the tag expecting a joke but finds a real spoiler, that the incident will cause as much ruckus as if someone simply posted spoiler info without an alert.

At least, that's my hope, since this move will likely cost me some entertainment that I need to recoup from elsewhere...

I sure hope so. I really don't get the people that want to make so many stupid jokes about this.

It's going to have a novelty period, I'm sure. But give it a little time and I think this will actually fall into the totally legit use area.

Cool. You can nest spoilers. For people who are really discriminating about what information they want spoiled, I'd expect.

As long as we have one thread for them (as opposed to no threads), that sounds great.

There is not much I can do about the spoilers appearing in the previews. None of the available hacks have a solution to that problem yet.
