Publicity stunt, or hey you just effed up? I had never heard of this movie "Redline" before, but now I did. And the story easily has had to have gotten enough playtime to make a 1.5m value worth of advertising. I wonder how fast he was going?

I'd say it's real, if for no reason other than the guy standing behind the barrier wouldn't have been there if he knew there was going to be a crash (nor does it seem likely anybody in on the stunt would have let him be standing there, even if he wasn't in on it).

Why does the guy behind the barrier not jump out of the way? He barely flinches.

The worst part of the story was reading about how the car belonged to a movie bigshot involved with the movie, and that it was his dream car. When they interviewed him you could tell he was really shaken up. It's definitely real.

This isn't a stuntman driving, it's a comedian. No way he would intentionally crash a car (and risk serious injury) to promote his movie. He hits that wall pretty hard.

I know the owner was pissed, but he was the one who actually let them drive his cars anyways. WTF was he thinking?

Eddie's got to be lining up Deuce Bigalow 3, 4, and 5 to help pay for that mistake.

Um, the guy behind the barrier *right next to where the car crashed* is the owner of the car and producer of the movie, Daniel Sadek. Watch the video, he doesn't even flinch.

He's also wrecked two of his own Porche GT's during this film's production

I can see what you're saying, but ...

That car's doing at least 30+ when it hits the wall (an immovable object). If you've ever hit something at that speed you know it hurts pretty good. The actor/commedian must be pretty dedicated to the movie to intentionally do that. If you listen to the audio you can clearly hear him lock up the brakes coming into the turn which would explain the crash.

The producer (or whomever) doesn't flinch but if this was staged publicity why is he even in the shot? Any idiot producer/director is smart enough not to stand in an arranged shot. The you tube video posted here is not from the guy behind the barrier, so there was clearly another camera angle. Why stand there and risk the very real possibility of getting hit by flying debris, if this was all staged?

I bet if that car had a cup holder for his orange soda, that crash doesn't happen.

There should be a Man Law against that sort of thing.

Oh, that Eddie Griffin. I was about to make a "jerking off" joke...

I'm guessing their insurance was prepared for this sort of thing to happen. Not to say that they meant for him to do it, I doubt it. But...I don't think he meant to do it, because what would he have to gain?

LOL, I originally read "1.5m" as being "1.5 meters", not 1.5M as in 1.5 millions. I was going "WTF, that car isn't that small!?!" :D

Staged. Has anyone not noticed that we all now know about this movie because of this? They guy doesn't flinch. That's the clincher. He's standing there because he knows at the speed of the car and size of barrier nothing is going to happen to him.

I'm sorry, what does that have to do with him standing in the shot? If it was 'faked' why would he want to be standing there even if it was his car? I'm missing something?

One of my all-time favorite movies.

Not staged...if that is his dream car and he let it be freaking smashed like that, Ferrari wont be selling him another one of thier most exclusive creations anytime soon.

Why is the course set up so close to a concrete barrier when it appears it could easily have been set up further away from the barrier? You're gonna let some untrained comedian drive your million dollar car through a little road course, and you're gonna let him drive right beside a concete barrier? Makes no sense to me unless staged.

I have a 2002 Saturn sedan with better traction and handling than that. I only had to juke crack for 1.5 minutes to pay for it too.

Just chalk it up to one more of the great American mysteries....

OK, I've tried, but I just can't make myself care whether it was staged or not.

People don't drive expensive cars into concrete barriers for fun. The conspiracy theorists here are insane. This is incredibly dangerous. There's nothing to gain whatsoever. Why did he let him borrow the car? That's what rich people do. Why didn't he flinch? He's a racing enthusiast, he's spent a many hours near a track, has seen such things close-up before, so he's not going to flail his arms like a school girl.

It's a racetrack, not some random course they set up in the back lot. The Irwindale Speedway to be exact. He wasn't supposed to get so close to the barrier ... he just F'd up (or intentionally crashed depending on what you believe).

As for why he was driving, there was a charity race that he was training for. I don't know why but the celebs do that kinda thing alot. Why you would let the idiot drive your 1.5MM car though I have no idea, unless it was an insurance scam (cue another conspiracy). Kinda serves him right though.
