You just made the high school QB turn gay with this thread.
|
BTW, I don't think it's a coincidence that the first single off his next album was called She Goes Down. A futile attempt at damage control, methinks.

sweet mother of god!

Come on...
Les Paul and Billy Squire. 2 guys who had major guitar mfgs create lines of instruments just for them. Billy worked at the studio that I worked at...though, a couple years earlier. My old boss said he was MAJOR OCD. He was uptight too. Started cleaning the control room window (looking out into performance area). The window was about 25 feet long, 5 fet high. He just started cleaning. He also started adjusting/rearranging mics and music stands, re-vacuuming carpet and making fresh coffee. He was being a dick to everybody, complaining about everything, asking for everything under the sun. Studio catered to anything he asked. At the end of the day, he turned out to be the coolest cat. Apologized for being a dick. Said he liked to feel out how studios treat him and what they do for him. Was impressed with how the studio tried making feel comfortable. ....then he tried getting down my boss' pants. ;) :D |

dola-
I kind of thought he rocked, like if he was on the radio I'd jam out to him in my car or something, but now I'm forever scarred.. |
|
See, that stuff actually rocked in the early 80s, before hard rock/metal became popular. In the span of about 3 years, Squier, Night Ranger, Foreigner, Journey, REO, Styx, etc., all went from "rock" to "pop" in comparison to Quiet Riot and the endless stream of hair bands that followed. They got a raw deal.
My favorite Squier songs are Emotion in Motion (cool bas line) and Everybody Wants You. |
"In The Dark" is the greatest song of the 80s: true or false.
Discuss. |
Don't even start with Judas Priest. My favorite metal band of all time. It's funny, I knew long before it became public that he was gay becaue my aunt dated their sound man and I heard all the stories. Kinda obvious now, but everone was pretty well shocked when it came out.

I have a friend who met him at the Marquette Hotel here in Mpls back around the Defenders of the Faith tour. Came into the lobby with 2 local 'boys' who looked very femmy. Friend said that while they didn't know for sure, they thought that he was a little light in the loafers off stage. Granted, you see concerts from back then, its obvious. But, back in the 80s, his garb was pretty tough. Even with his short blond hair, guys thought he was the shit. Not to mention, I don't care what hole you prefer. If you can sing like that, I'm a fan. |

One of the greatest. I think that Squire was amazing for a brief moment in time. Everything he touched turned to gold. The Goo Goo Dolls were like that in the 90s. Anything written would be guaranteed 100,000 units sold, if not more. |

im going to make an assumption based soley on the video above and say your boss was a man |
Didn't everyone air band like that in their bedroom in the 10th grade?? Seriously though, that first video is pure fucking hilarious gold. I have a sinking feeling Billy blew every single guy at the end of the video when the cameras went off.
|
man. that hurt to watch
|
Dude can't dance manly-like, that's for sure.

Sure. At the end of a pretty rigorous session, I'd have a pile of pink tank tops I had ripped off myself. Eventually I had to stop because my mom was getting pissed I was ruining so many of her shirts. |
Wow, I'm previewing a Squier greatest hits record on Itunes and homeboy does quite a few songs I remember from the days of classic rock radio. Quite a few songs that I recognized but didnt know who the artist was.
|
I've got Emotions in Motion and his greatest hits album. I had a few others on vinyl/cassette that I never replaced. He was the man from about 1981 to 1987 or so.
|
Don't Say No has about 4 or 5 legit rock classics on it.
|
Apparently he was on tour last year doing acoustic sets in Borders and Barnes & Noble stores. It doesn't get much more rock and roll than that.

You apparently missed my REO Speedwagon thread! :D |
Somewhere Richard Simmons is giggling like a little girl.

It's gotta suck going from selling out arenas to playing at a Walmart.

That's over the course of 20 years, though. He's hardly the first to have that happen. I saw him in 1991 at Sunrise Music Theater in South Florida, and that place held about 3K. I also saw Living Colour there about the same time, so it's not like that was a hole in the wall. Clearly not an arena, but still not too bad. He put on a good show, although I'll admit I was more intrigued by the opening band, Maggie's Dream, whose only album I still listen to fairly regularly to this day. |

...and he's never even heard of Billy Squier. |

The hitting on my boss thing was the joke of my post. Though, your response was funnier than mine. :D |

Fixed that for ya. :D |
oofta. Rock Me Tonight!

Wow...........Nothing signals career over more than being the opening act for the latest Harry Potter book. |
My wife is a self-proclaimed Billy Squier fan and I always bring this video up when I want to piss her off.
|
This still wins the award for overacting in a music video....
|
Funny tidbit, apparently the drumline to the Billy Squier song "Big Beat" is like some legendary rap rhythm beat, featured in several tracks such as Jay-Z's 99 Problems.
