upcoming WW game - Rule of Apocalypse
 

This is not the sign-up thread. However, like last time I would appreciate it if people would suggest characters that should be included in the Marvel Universe so I can generate the characters with the expectation that someone will sign up as that alternate.

There will be three public roles in this game, Apocalypse and two of his horsemen. The people who played them in the last game have an open invitation to assume those roles again or to choose another character.

Game details are still being fleshed out, but the forces of Apocalypse now rule the world and will be the "villagers". The rebels trying to overthrow him will be the "wolves". And a certain world eater will be making his presence known ...

I'll throw out Juggernaut and Phoenix/Jean Gray as people who I'd consider playing next time.

Juggs = dead from last game. Come up with a story on how he could have survived being killed by the heroes on Day 4 and I'll be willing to work him back in. This is comics, so my standards aren't ridiculously high here :) But it does need to make some sense within the framework of the character. Wikipedia can be a big help on stuff like this ...

Yep, there are options for a ton of characters who have already come back to life in the comics/movies/whatever. But there are also a ton of other characters that might be fun to explore. I would prefer to have the latter, but don't want to keep someone from their "must have" character just because someone else got them killed the first time around.

Yeah, balance may be challenging with that guy but I'm willing to give it a go if someone picks him. In the last games not all characters were equal, but I certainly tried to give each one a unique value proposition.

The Punisher? I'd love to be him if he's allowed.

I would certainly like to reprise Silver Surfer.

I'm not sure if I'd be up for this game, but my first thought is Rogue as she doesn't seem to have been involved yet.

BTW I wasn't thinking of Juggernaut, I was thinking of Cannonball.

And Thor. It seems it would be interesting to look more at villians but none have jumped out at me yet.

Molecule Man:

Powers/Abilities: Molecule Man could expand his molecular structure so that solid objects passed right through him, and could appear giant-sized in this form. He could condense his molecules, making his body as tough as steel, but reducing his proportions accordingly into two feet in height. He could also dissolve his foes by 'demagnetizing' their molecules.


I see a lot to work with there. He could be quite uber.

Same issue as Juggernaut. Thomkal blames you for Cannonball being dead, if I recall correctly :eek::p

No kidding. Looking through the villain list the only thing that jumps out at me is how silly most of the villain names are. Puff Adder? Purple Man? Stilt Man?

"Oh no! Look out. There's some guy on stilts. Let's tremble in fear. He might, like, um, step over my head, or topple over. Or something equally terrifying."

Anyway, if Thor is in I guess it would be interesting to include Loki for interaction dynamics. Although, to be honest, he's a bit crap really.

Was Psylocke I or II in the first game? No she wasn't I see. Her then.

Actually Stilt Man is a joke in teh hero and villian communities and they make fun of him.

I actually seriously considered playing Stilt Man. He's such a hoot, it would be fun to roleplay such a lame villian.

I always dreaded getting those filler issues of the comics. I remember the first one of Spiderman with Stilt Man, thinking "Why do I have to pay because they couldn't think of a good story this week?"

If you look at the list of characters from the first game, I don't think they were all "A-listers". I'll do my best with whatever characters you guys want to run. If someone wants to cheese it up with Stilt Man, then I'll look for ways to make him viable.

Even though someone like Hulk would annihilate Mystique in a comic book battle, I tried to make each of them have value in the last game. I'll do the same this time around.

I am talking of the first one. Spitfire (Lady Jacqueline Falsworth-Crichton). The British Superspeedstress from the Invaders.

Wasn't Wonder Man thought of the last time we did this but wasn't used?

How about just going with Miss America. She is old school Marvel, about the time of Whizzer.

Now that the work schedule is becoming more sane I'm starting to put some time into this rule set. I'm hoping to have it fully baked in the next week and start tinkering with characters. So this post should start seeing updates as I generate the requested characters, talking about rules, etc.

OK, last time I was getting ready to do this I got a phone call letting Tammy and I know there was a baby waiting for us to adopt. I don't see any such issues arising this time around and my turn is coming up soon.

So ... time to get working on generating these characters, tightening up the plot, and moving this forward. If you have requests get them in now.

Plastic Man is DC instead of Marvel, right? But I think there's a counterpart.

I really meant to read some more comics after that last game. Hmmm.

Are both pretty decent characters. I would like to be in whenever you run this Hoops.

I still want to be Phoenix this time around.

I'll be Black Bolt, but I'm only choosing him because he has a cool name -- I don't really know anything about any of the story. If that's a problem, I don't mind sitting out -- I have an exam coming up in the next month anyway.

And I know we're not picking out roles yet. Just wanted to express my excitement about the game.

When is it starting?

I want to be Colossus, I'm sort of stunned that Piotr Rasputin (Colossus) hadn't been used already as he is a diehard anti-apocolypse kinda hero.

I believe it is two games back, with Barkeep up next and I'm up after that one.

I'll be working on creating a couple of characters per day for the next 1-2 weeks, and posting the ruleset for my game around the end of the first week of BK's game to allow people a couple of days to digest it.

There should be good amount of continuity from the last Marvel game, but it is a different set from most other games here so I'm expecting some questions before things get going.

Should I rent the Rise of the Silver Surfer DVD to get in character?

Haven't seen it myself, Path. But probably should in the interests of preparing for the game.
