Unexpected Movie Casting

Ed Norton has signed on to be the Hulk in the second Hulk movie. Can't say I would have ever seen that coming, mainly because Norton seems an odd choice, and also because I really didn't think they'd go through with another.

Louis Leterrier, the director the Transporter films and Jet Li’s Unleashed, is helming this time.

wow.

I <3 Ed Norton and this seriously disappoints me.

Random factoid which is part of why I'm partial to Ed Norton: he went to my high school (he is 10 years older than me). I was in a class or two with his sister.

Ed Norton wants to get paid, clearly.

SteveMax58 04-16-2007 07:51 PM

Hmm...I didnt see any mention of what the Hulk will look like. That is what will make or break the sequel to me...not Eric Bana vs. Ed Norton.

It killed it for me to see the Hulk as a PO'd Shrek.

Pyser 04-16-2007 07:52 PM

come on cthomer, now there'll be good action in it!

im for it, having never seen the first, but having seen unleashed and the transporter

Groundhog 04-16-2007 07:54 PM

Gee wiz, nice choice for Hulk. Who was the #2 choice, Danny Devito?

Mustang 04-16-2007 07:57 PM

I am the Hulk's Alter Ego

I'll add my factoid, I grew up next door to Edward Norton as a kid in Columbia, MD, and my parents have a bunch of pictures of us riding Big Wheels and going to birthday parties when we were both 5 or 6.

From everything i'd originally read this is another re-start to the franchise, not a sequel. I realize that article specifically says Hulk 2 but I don't believe that's correct.

To be fair, he'll be playing Bruce Banner, not The Hulk.

I love the casting. Beats the shit out of casting some college student to play Dr. David Banner.

I'll probably have to see this when it hits theaters now.

WVUFAN 04-17-2007 01:05 PM

I like the Transporter movies. And Unleashed. I think that style will fit in nicely with a Hulk movie. Much better than Ang Lee would.

The movie will be a Banner on-the-run type of film, and while it will not be a direct sequel, it's not a revamp either. Think Superman Returns-ish in terms on continuity.

I have never liked norton, and was stunned to learn that he was the king in Kingdom of Heaven...i had no idea, and thought he did a great job. So well see with this movie...

Wasn't the first one a restart? I'm confused. WELCOME TO HOLLYWOOD!

yeah, the last one was... but apparently no one really liked it, so the comic company (Marvel?) is keeping more control over this project apparently. And i believe this one will be called The Incredible Hulk as opposed to "Hulk 2" or something.

Ah-ha!

RendeR 04-18-2007 12:05 PM

I loved the last one. It was true to the comic book style and the characters were perfect in their roles.

Can't wait to see how bad they fuck up the franchise this time.

This was the Banner on TV. You guys seriously think Norton isn't tough enough looking for that role? Or am I completely misreading the complaints other than Norton's too good for this?

RendeR 04-18-2007 12:17 PM

Norton is a terrible choice for banner imo, he doesn't look the part at all and what I've seen of him doesn't relate well to the role either.

Fixed.

According to an article I read on yahoo...

Quote:

Norton will Hulk out in front of the cameras in Toronto over the summer; the film is expected in theatres in summer 2008. Zack Penn, who worked on two of the X-Men films as well as the first Fantastic Four, has written the new Hulk screenplay which picks up with the Hulk on the run from the military and the law.

Schmidty 04-18-2007 05:20 PM

I really, really enjoyed the first Hulk.

This is a distinct change from what they were saying originally. I wonder if it was a conscious decision since another fullblown restart might have just made people go "Again?!"

Yeah that's the same thing I was thinking after reading this.

If you read the history of the news on the right side, looks like that decision was made between the original annoucement and hiring the director. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy and had definite read that the movie was going to be a restart at one time. :)
