2. Creed, 27.59% (16 of 58 votes), (Shania Twain second with 13 votes)
3. Meat Loaf, 32.31% (21 of 65 votes), (Shania Twain second with 12 votes)
4. Shania Twain, 43.86% (24 of 56 votes), (Beastie Boys second with 13)
5. Nirvana, 28.99 % (20 of 69 votes), (No Doubt second with 18)

interesting, the Beasties were the only 2nd place vote off that hasn't been voted off yet.

Def Leppard has had a varied career, but they've put out some very good music. Let's take down The Beasties first!

After that, I'll be happy with eitehr The Eagles or Led Zep.

I say we start an anti-LZ, anti-Eagles coalition, just so we can hear the old timers bitch about the poor quality of music we youngsters listen to.

Once Def Leopard is out I would be happy to vote for the Eagles next.

Zeppelin and the Eagles are hardly from my generation and that of many of their defenders here. They are old timers to us as well, but quality is ageless. Zeppelin will win.

I think the Eagles fans should make a push next round to vote out Zeppelin and then cruise to an easy victory over the Beasties.

There is little doubt it will come down to Eagles-Zeppelin, and LZ should crush. Out of all these groups, the Eagles is probably the group I would be least likely to listen to for more than five minues...or however long Hotel California is.

Eagles fans - I will support you in the final versus LZ if you help bail my Leppards out!

It's probably a little late for that, Kodos, so you should throw your support behind the English band Def Leppard tried to sound like. I mean come on, their name sounds like Led Zeppelin.

Interestingly, Def Leppard chose to spell it that way to avoid being mistaken for a punk rock group (Deaf Leopard looks like a punk name), which was popular in the late seventies when they formed. The name came from a fictitious band that Joe Elliott invented for a poster in an art class when he was in high school.

But I will certainly admit that Led Zeppelin influenced DL, especially early on. They were actually bigger fans of Queen, Mott the Hoople, Bowie, and Slade, than LZ, but obviously the Zep influence is there too.

I had no illusions from the start that Def Leppard would win the contest. Like it or not, they got lumped in with the hair bands of the late 80s, even though they are more of a pop-rock band than a heavy metal band (which they readily admit). Sure, their early albums were heavier, but as they refined their skills, they became more poppy over the years. Frankly, I'm surprised that they got this far, with the stigma of being from the 80s pop metal era. They will always be my favorite band, but obviously bands like Led Zeppelin will be better regarded in the end, which is fine with me. To each his own. :)

I like Def Leppard. I never really considered them a hair band. On a related note. You mentioned Queen's influence. Remember the Freddie Mercury tribute concert? I thought they had one of the better performances that day. Them and Extreme. While they were overshadowed by bigger names like GNR, Elton John and Metallica, those were the performances that stuck out to me.

I thought that Extreme did especially well at the tribute. I found myself wishing that they would do a cover album of Queen songs after that. The medley they did was just great.

I think I have some of those Extreme songs from that performance on a bootleg of theirs.

I've voted for Def Leppard every round except for the Backstreet Boys round. Looks like I'll finally be on the correct side for once!

Their chances seem remote right now, but there are still probably 30 votes floating around out there. The Leppards are on life support for sure, but not quite dead...

An alien can hope, can't he? ;)

Damn this all to hell. The Beastie Boys have lasted much much longer than they should have. This is terrible. Grah.

Beastie Boys fans, lets go for the bigdog next round, lets take out Led Zepp.

We MUST unite. We cannot split our votes. People indifferent will more likely vote The Eagles since LZ is clearly better. All Beastie fans should also vote for the Eagles. In addition to our coalition voting for them, so too will the undecideds. Politics gentleman.

I will be voting The Eagles next round.

But if we don't get rid of Led Zepp now, we definitely won't get rid of them the round after next when it's head to head.
