Only One Way to Make it Better!

...This is why it's my favorite time of year:
windows and patio door WIDE open
padding around barefoot or in sandals
sitting out on the balcony, sipping Captain & Coke
first corn on the cob of the season

One thing to make it better? A grill. Unfortunatley it's against fire code to put one on my balcony and I kind of like my apartment so I'm not going to do that anytime soon, but...

:)

Pffft...I'm not supposed to grill on my balcony either but I've been doing it two or three times a month for over two years now and they haven't said a word to me...

I thought the missing piece was a hot tub

Grilled out on the back patio for lunch today. Ate outside, too. Rules.

One day. When I can afford a house where I live, or I decide to move to a place where I *can* afford a house.

Did you know that the average income where I live is approx 135k/year? (edited to change value based on Yahoo article)

I guess that's dual income, but still.....

When I was living in an apartment in Houston, due to minimum distance restrictions, it wouldn't have been possible to grill on a balcony but grilling in the courtyard would have been OK. Do you have a common area like that available?

And (boggle) at the average income... whatever may be wrong with South Bend, it's nice to be able to afford a house on a grad student stipend.

DanGarion 04-21-2007 10:49 PM

WTF you can't grill on your patio? Not even with gas, that's bullshit, we can do it on our patios and/or balconies.

Mr. Wednesday 04-21-2007 11:32 PM

It's probably something similar to the fire regulation in Houston, where you have to be at least 10 ft from the building with your grill (which makes it impractical to grill on a balcony though not on a large patio).

I'm marinating some Kc strip steaks overnight with a hawaiian style marinade i've always made as we speak.

Just had to comment on Desmond's Foreman Grill post:

My best bud has a Foreman, and he makes food for us all once in a while. It's decent...............................compared to a frozen burrito. Seriously, I'd rather die 10 years sooner than have to eat all of my steaks and burgers from that taste-remover. They should just call it "The George Foreman 'Make My Food British' Grill"
