The Official 2007 NFL Draft Thread
About fucking time this came. As a Lions fan it's either get really pumped (CJ) or get ready to author a suicide note (Adams). Everything else is purgatory.

Report: Titans to acquire Mike Williams from Lions
By Terry McCormick, [email protected] April 28, 2007 According to the NFL Network, the Tennessee Titans are expected to acquire wide receiver Mike Williams from the Detroit Lions for an undisclosed draft choice. Williams, the Lions’ first pick in 2005, has been a disappointment since being taken 10th overall that season. He had just eight catches last season. The move reunites Williams with his former Southern California offensive coordinator Norm Chow. Ironically, Williams was a player the Titans strongly considered taking with the No. 6 pick in that draft, when they drafted Adam “Pacman” Jones, who is now suspended for the entire season. The Titans are still believed to be in the running to acquire San Diego Chargers running back Michael Turner, though Tennessee apparently has declined to offer a first-round pick, which Chargers general manager A.J. Smith has demanded in any deal for the running back. |
I'm TICKED. I haven't been scheduled to work a Saturday in MONTHS, but what happens this week? Gotta be there from 2-9ish. Argh!

My 6000th post is a sign of solidarity to you. |
I'm ticked that I don't get ESPN out here so I can't watch the draft. Oh well, I really need to keep working on my paper, I guess. 6 pages of 15 done so far.

ESPN Radio? |
Any video or audio available on the net? (draft coverage that is)

C'mon man, anyone in the service industry with some sense asks for this day off. I had it marked down months ago. |
Quote:
Umm, is it just me or are the Titans really, really bad judgers of character. They drafted Pacman-and we know what happened-and then trade for Mike Williams, who is not know for being the cleanest player or even an effective player! |

I hadn't worked the early Saturday shift in a few weeks (they pulled me after several problems with a show, believing me to be the problem.) So my first draft weekend in eight years where I have ESPN and they tell me Wednesday they NEED me to work it. If I didn't need this job... ...and I'm happy happy, joy joy to get rid of Mike "Post Route" Williams. Why do I call him "Post Route?" Is it because he runs that route excellent? Nope. Because he runs like the goalpost. Maybe Chow can make a decent reserve out of him... Can't wait to see who Millen will be cutting or trading for a 6th rounder in a few years! :D |
Quote:
Seriously, it's been like six months since I had to work a Saturday. I thought I was safe... :( At least I have Sunday off, when Jordan Palmer and, if he falls a bit, Johnnie Lee Higgins will be drafted. |
Quote:
Don't get that either, unfortunately. I'll just have to rely on good ol' FOFC. |
Keyshawn has already outshined Michael Irvin's days with ESPN. lol

He's like, a rebel with the not cutting his hair look and stuff. Keep my sister and daughter away from the TV... My sis actually sat down to watch the draft when the J-E-T-S drafted Kyle Brady because "He's CUTE!!!" I wanted to vomit... |
lions trading williams frees millen up to be the butt of a million jokes and select CJ.
|
Quote:
Honestly, I don't think Millen has any choice but to select Johnson. He's the best player in the draft, and everybody knows the Lions want to trade out--so they won't get anything close to a fair deal if they don't go ahead and take CJ and then look for a trade. |
Quote:
Did you hear him talking about hiring a dj for the green room? :D |
oh I don't think he has a chioce either. Were I a lions fan i'd be fine with it. But that doesn't mean he's not going to get blasted for it
|
Easily one of my favorite days of the year.
My wife even loves draft day now. She got hooked watching it with me a few years ago, and now she actually looks forward to it. |

I'll offer you $1000 for your wife. |

I don't think it's all that terrible of a chance. Williams thrived in Norm Chows offense with USC, hopefully he will look at this as an opportunity to redeem a career that had appeared to be over. |
Thanks for the ESPN Radio link. :)
Just heard on there the Trent Green deal is close to happening. If it goes down, I'll be happy, depending on what we pay. Trent's one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the league, imo. |
Are these Player introductions new this year?
Deon is going to town. "Ain't no Booing" LOL Brady Quinn got booed with his intro. |

They mentioned on Fox Radio that the Chiefs have already sent some of Green's gear to Miami. |
Raiders possibly trading Moss.
Article at nfl.com: NEW YORK (April 28, 2007) -- Oakland is sitting on two of the potentially biggest draft-day developments. For starters, the Raiders have been calling New England, trying to engineer a trade for Randy Moss. The Patriots are interested and have offered a second-day pick for Moss. Raiders owner Al Davis shot down the Patriots' offer, believing he can get more. The two sides continue talking, hoping to hammer out a trade that seems less likely today than it did yesterday. But New England has an advantage other teams don't. Any team that wants to trade for Moss will have to rework his contract, which calls for him to make $9.75 million this season. The Raiders even have asked Moss to restructure his contract -- the wide receiver has refused, challenging Oakland. But Moss is willing to redo his contract for the Patriots, a team the wide receiver believes can win the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl, at this point, is Moss' motivation in going to play for the Patriots. As it stands now, it looks like it could be difficult to trade Moss this weekend. But the talks are ongoing and active, and they bear monitoring. The other big development regarding the Raiders is the talks they've had in regards to their No. 1 overall pick. The team making a push to move up to No. 1 is the Cleveland Browns. But in exchange for the pick that put the Browns in position to draft LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell, the Raiders are demanding a first-, second- and third-round pick, and another first-round pick next year. At those terms, the Browns will pass on the deal, but they will continue to monitor the situation in the hopes they can pull off the trade. |
see I was bitching to foz last night that i'd puke if we got randy moss. But if we get him for a Day 2 pick I'd be okay with that. As long as we don't pay Al Davis' premium-price I'm okay with it, since that makes cutting him more possible.

Oh Boy! Oh Boy! Oh Boy! Oh Boy! Oh Boy! :)

Not that doing that would be exceptionally hard, but I am impressed with Keyshawn so far. He's talking to the camera and making good points instead of acting like Michael "NO I CAN'T STOP SCREAMING!" Irvin. |

If the Jets, Eagles or Giants won a superbowl anytime soon, the draft wouldn't be as fun.
|
Quote:
Nope. Lions signed Marcus Robinson. He's Williams replacement. |
Quote:
+1, he looks like he's going to be good at this. |

It's that USC grooming... ;) |

maybe somebody already mentioned it, but the NFL network is streaming their video coverage (and streaming their Sirius radio coverage as well). Go to NFL.com |

Dola.
Hey I liked that Reggie Bush commercial. Oh wait that's another USC guy. |
Is it safe to assume this is one of FOFC's bigger days of the year?
