Looking for Suggestions for a FM 07 Dynasty
 

I prefer to manage a professional team in a lower division. I would prefer a precarious financial situation to a team flush with money. I prefer to play in Europe.

I don't know much about soccer, and I've only fooled around with the game a bit, but haven't started a serious career.

I'm considering Morton in Scotland, Grimsby in England, and Vennezia in Italy, but would like to hear some other suggestions as well.

You could always start unemployed.

I admit I know next to nothing about FM (having only messed around with the demo some years back), but would starting out in one of the "non-standard" European Leagues be an option? Maybe one of the Portugese or Dutch leagues?

Just a thought. Like I said, I haven't messed with FM much myself, but I've enjoyed alot of the dynasties I've seen based on it. One of these years I'll have to pick it up.

Yeah, I'm game for any league, pretty much. I'd just like it to be a Euro one.

Play with all the English leagues enabled. Sim one year and then take over a team freshly promoted into Conference North or Conference South. It will be a tiny team with no money. Knock yourself out.

I would prefer a professional team. I think all the teams in the North/South are semipro.

Let me try to be more clear: I am NOT looking for a typical "lower league team". I am looking for a professional team that is not in the highest division in its country.

I'm looking at Polonia Warszaw right now.

In the older versions I always liked to start with Barnet in England. They are a lower league pro team. I'm not sure how much cash they have in FM07, but I believe they have a pretty small stadium which can make the financials a little more challenging. I think they recently got promoted IRL so I'd think it would be a pretty interesting challenge unless the stadium has been expanded.

Any of the teams in the Russian 2nd Division can be nice. It's good for a few reasons:

1) The promotion battle is fierce.
2) There's no huge mountain to climb to make it to the top level of football, with there only being 2 divisions modelled in the game (can be good or bad depending on your perspective)
3) There's only 16 teams in the top division, so you get to know the familiar faces quite well.
4) There're several power teams who you'll really have to struggle to pass (CSKA, Sparktak, Lokomotiv, FC). Kind of like a whole new promotion race to get into Europe even once you're in the top division. I'd say the divide between the top few Russian teams and the rest is even greater than in, say, England.

dutch league, or norwegian league. particularly in holland you can end up with a strong kid virtually anywhere (prolly one of my all-time fav FM games was when I turned Hereenveen into a world-beater), although Norway isn't half bad, because you get to play in that special scandanavian-super-league (king's cup or something? royal league?) as well as everything else, and the guys have some ridiculous names.

i mean there's something incredibly cool about saying:

"My leading goal-scorer is Per Cijan Sjkelbrand"

I played a game starting at Zagelbie in the Polish 2nd division once. Enjoyed it quite a bit, got them promoted and into European competitions before bolting to the French league.

This sounds promising, can anybody tell me more about this?

Gretna in Scottish Division 1 is certainly a talented team with great young players. You should have a good chance at promotion in your first year. Not sure on their financial status but you could easily sell of a couple of youngsters to the Old Firm and establish a nice lil kitty.

Problem is in Scot Div 1 is only one team gets promotion.
