Another Reason not leave your kids home when you leave town

Burned body may be missing girl

Car of missing girl found, police say

2 teen boys arrested in teen's death

Hess was last seen around 4 p.m. Friday.

Her parents went out of town for the weekend, and when they returned Sunday evening, they found a gun missing and blood in their home near Phillips and Thompson roads in Queen Creek.

Amber is a recent graduate of Coolidge High School. She enjoyed designing her own clothes and contemplated becoming a clothing designer, said her grandfather, Fritz Miller, of Phoenix.

A burned body found near Florence is believed to be that of a missing Queen Creek teenage girl.

The 16-year-olds made statements that led detectives to believe they took part in the killing of Hess, 17, whose burned body was found in the desert near Florence on Monday. Her identity has been positively identified using dental records, Vasquez said.

The suspects and Hess were acquaintances, Vasquez said.

"Basically they just didn't like her and for whatever reason were planning to kill her," Vasquez said. "They went to her home and through a combination of stabbing and choking, killed her."

The teens, who were not identified, will be booked on first-degree murder charges, and other charges are likely, Vasquez said. They likely will be charged as adults.

"I can tell you from the interview with these kids that this was one brutal, brutal murder," Vasquez said.

Hess' parents had been away on a trip over the weekend, and when they returned Sunday they found blood and signs of a struggle in their home.

Amber's 2002 Mitsubishi was located Tuesday just down the street from one of the suspect's homes, Vasquez said.

Investigators spent Tuesday going over her car looking for fingerprints, DNA and any evidence the assault was carried over to the vehicle. Detectives were also looking over her MySpace.com page for possible clue.

I hope they are charged as adults. Talk about lowest circle of hell...

I hope Benoit saves them a seat.

A high school graduate is barely a "kid." I don't see anything wrong with what these parents did, nor do I think it would have stopped her murder had they not left her alone for the weekend.

I have to agree, when clicking the link I was expecting some story about a few preteen kids who were trying to make hotpockets and all ended up dying in a house fire kind of scenario.

And there have been a couple of those stories around recently. The 2 moms that left their 6-8 kids alone to go to a bar, only to have the house burn down and 5 of the kids die, comes to mind.

They have been many chicks I didn't like in highschool(ex-girlfriend comes to mind) I never felt compelled to kill them though. I would rather start a nasty rumor and let her ass suffer rather then going to jail.

Hmm for some reason it won't let me edit... well I meant to add this is sad for this to happen to her.
