Former Princeton two-sport standout, Chris Young, has been elected to the 2007 National League All-Star Team — becoming just the sixth Ivy Leaguer ever to be named. The first five were Lou Gehrig (Columbia, N.Y. Yankees, 1933-39); Red Rolfe (Dartmouth, N.Y. Yankees, 1937-40); Ron Darling (Yale, N.Y. Mets, 1985); Brad Ausmus (Dartmouth, Detroit, 1999); and Mike Remlinger (Dartmouth, Atlanta, 2002). |

I couldn't give a definitive answer but if I had to guess it had something to do with WW2 ending and all the good players coming home. |
"Tonite on Ken Burns Remembers Baseball, the life and times of Johnny Dickshot. In 1945, "Ugly" as he was known by batted .301 with the White Sox and left it all behind to persue a career in porn. Join us as we chronicle his life that ended in a horrible boating accident in 1997."

There were a number of "career year" guys during WWII who only played because the better players were at war. If you notice, he was a bench guy for the latter part of the 30s and came out of forced retirement in 1944 because they needed players. |

In 1934, a pitcher reached 100 career saves for the first time. Who was it?
I don't know the answer but I do know this is the year that Mickey Cochrane won the MVP despite Gehrig winning the triple crown.
Was it...this guy?
