Black History Colouring Book

http://web.knoxnews.com/web/blackhis...or/index.shtml

I appologize, I know this is for a serious cause... but some of these have made me lol at work. I laugh everytime I see the Ewing one. Some of the others look so funny. Barry Bonds looks naked, and Magic Johnson looks like Bill Cosby.

Swaggs 08-10-2007 02:21 PM

I like Barry Bonds' pose.

spleen1015 08-10-2007 02:29 PM

Roberto Alomar was black?

ISiddiqui 08-10-2007 02:42 PM

Why are there like no football players on the list? And one of the two football players (who happen to be two star athletes) is Deion Sanders who is portrayed with a baseball bat and uniform, like he was more known for being a baseball player than a CB? WTF?

Swaggs 08-10-2007 02:45 PM

This is rather odd... Mike Tyson, Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, Tim Hardaway...

MikeVic 08-10-2007 02:47 PM

At least you just have to print out Michael Jackson and it's already done.

Pele is there :)

(Not that he's an African American, right enough).

Man, once again the NHL gets overlooked.

Maple Leafs 08-10-2007 03:01 PM

Of all the people listed, how did they choose Daman Wayans to be the guy featured in the example at the top of the page?

I thought that was Wilbon before I saw it coloured in. And then I thought it was Samuel L. Jackson.

JonInMiddleGA 08-10-2007 03:09 PM

I particularly like the way Oprah is "continued on next page" ;)

rowech 08-10-2007 03:18 PM

I can't help but think what kinds of messages this thing sends. How much more entertainers and sports figures there are listed here. How is that "history?"

In addition, how is Malcolm X not listed?

MikeVic 08-10-2007 03:21 PM

Maybe the guy could only draw celebrities.

Probably omitted in favor of convicted rapist Mike Tyson.

edit to add: Or how convicted criminal Winnie Mandela was included in the politics section but Condi Rice was left out.

MikeVic 08-10-2007 03:25 PM

I like that Rickey Henderson is there though. And Griffey looks like he has a fat head.

st.cronin 08-10-2007 03:27 PM

Jon, Condi's not black, she's Republican.

I. J. Reilly 08-10-2007 03:28 PM

Either Muddy Waters has a really small guitar, or he has huge hands. Jesus, look at the meat hooks on that guy.

sachmo71 08-10-2007 03:30 PM

i think the coloring would get a bit monotonous

I guess "The Keenen Ivory Wayans Show" wasn't on long enough to really impact your life.

The Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston pics would have worked better if combined as an action shot.

CU Tiger 08-10-2007 06:04 PM

Dola,
Pippen's nose is way too small, look like it would fit in the basket...

As far as I can tell, it's serious. I was looking for a Patrick Ewing pic for this thread (http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/...d.php?t=60230), and found that funny one on this site...

Izulde 08-10-2007 06:50 PM

Shaq looks like Cletus T. Yokel in that drawing.

And no Martin Luther King, Jr? But Luis Farrakhan is included?

Hmm.

King's there.

Karlifornia 08-10-2007 07:18 PM

No George Washington Carver?

The drawings are uproariously bad.

Is that black African-American British guy who races cars and is black in there? You know, what's-his-name, the black guy.

No!

Dutch 08-11-2007 06:50 AM

Colin Powell-R is in the history section with the dead people. Yikes.

(If that's not a hint and a half to black people - you better keep voting Democrat or else!)

Easy Mac 08-11-2007 07:19 AM

But I only have 1 brown crayon in a box...

Richard Weed 08-11-2007 09:01 AM

Will Smith is Will Smith circa the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

vtbub 08-11-2007 12:33 PM

No Joe Louis?

dime 08-11-2007 09:11 PM

where's johnny cochran? or at least the juice...

Richard Weed 08-11-2007 09:13 PM

How come there aren't any klansmen or Headmaster Wizards or whatever in the black history coloring book? Aren't they part of the history? Is this book RACIST?

Then again, it's pretty easy to color the white hoods.
