NSFW Ad on FOFC?
Uh, I'm not a big fan of the banner ad "POT. Interested?" that's in rotation now. It's probably safe for my work, but I don't really want a freshman to stumble into my office with that ad blazing at the top of my PC. Is there anything we can do to maybe have that particular ad toned down?
|
Countdown until the Firefox/AdBlock people show up:
3...2... |
Yeah, it's a really stupid ad. Much more irritating than the majority of the others.

Countdown until I say that Firefox sucks more ass than consoles suck your taint. 3...2...wait, I already just said it. |
it's actually an anti-drug website, but i agree, seems to be in somewhat poor taste
|
Yeah, I always get worried someone will walk by when that ad comes up.
|
I find the ads, in general, are what would draw attention to someone at work being on FOFC. They're so colourful and move around and stuff.
But yeah, the POT one is stupid. Draw attention with a big marijuana leaf. |
That's why you folks need an office with the back of your monitor to the door.
No one sees what I see but me... Oh yes. |
Just make sure you don't have a reflective window behind you. True story.
|
Just because I don't like to see Pumpy left hanging....there are ads on FOFC?
|

Indeed. I have walked into my own office and seen the reflection, which is way the blinds directly behind me are always closed. |
How do you guys with adblock prevent these ads? I have it too, but everytime I right click and block one, then reload the page and another one appears. I can do this daily and still get a shitload of ads. And then there's some I can't block, like the Fox Fantasy ad.
|
I use auto update ad block and havent had an ad on this site for months.
|
adblock plus is the one i use

I use adblock plus. I've practically forgotten that the internet contains ANY ads

When you select the ad to block, you generally get a full URL of the ad to add to the block list. I generally delete the file name (everything after the last "/") and replace it with a wildcard "*". That tends to block all the ads. |
Adblock with the Adblock Filterset.G Updater takes care of most of your blocking needs.
|
It's called Firefox, all those that fail to use it deserve the ads they get. :)

I've been having the same problem as Rizon, so I'll give this a shot. |
At this point if you're still seeing internet ads its because you choose to.
|
Someone exactly spotted that sucker on my screen today and they asked me what it was. So, I clicked it to show them.
SkyDog, can you talk to the powers that be and ask them to do something about it? |
I'm on IE7 with the yellow skin, and I get zero ads here. WTF?
|

I'd rather see the ads, than I would that ugly, shitty gobbledy-guk. :) |
Quote:
No, my work chooses for me to use IE. |
Quote:
"I don't want none of that air conditioning gobbledy-guk!!" :) |
There have been many, many ads here that are not safe for work.
|
Quote:
That was easy. |

I am comfortable with what I have. I hate Firefox users basically saying I'm an idiot because I prefer IE, so even if I wanted to switch, I wouldn't because I'm stubborn. :) |

No one is saying you are an idiot. You just enjoy using inferior products. ;) |

+1. At home, the ads are blocked via Firefox + etc. At work, I'm forced to use IE6. No administrative rights = stuck with what work wants you to do. That pot ad in particular did have me wondering.. /tk |
Come on, folks, you are looking at this all wrong! You're supposed to follow these ads several times each day to keep this site free. Excuse me now while I go watch the Stranglehold trailer again.

Yeah, it's been working for me. Occasionally a new one will pop up, but I'll repeat the steps (or put the * earlier in the url). Thanks. |
COCK in big giant letters racing across the screen(turning into Mr Woodcock) is as bad as the pot ads, especially if someone walked by at the right moment.
