The Tournament of Rick: Rnd 1 - MORANIS vs GERVAIS

From the Entertainment Bracket, it's the first round matchup of the funny men!

The Matchup:

Rick Moranis

Frederick Alan "Rick" Moranis (born April 18, 1953) is a Canadian actor, comedian and musician best known for his comedy work on SCTV and featured in several Hollywood films including Ghostbusters, Little Shop of Horrors, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Spaceballs, and My Blue Heaven. In the 1970s, he worked (using the stage name Rick Allen) as a disc jockey at various radio stations in Toronto. He followed that with his work at SCTV, enjoying particular success portraying "Bob" of Bob and Doug McKenzie. His other memorable SCTV characterizations include motor-mouthed film producer Larry Siegel, terminally-ill rock star Clay Collins, smooth-voiced video deejay Gerry Todd, cool Leutonian pop star Linsk Minyk, kid-brother amateur comic Skip Bittman, head cheese butcher Carl Scutz, and morning homily intellect Rabbi Karlov. In 2005, Moranis released an album entitled The Agoraphobic Cowboy, featuring country songs with lyrics which Moranis says follow in the comic tradition of songwriters/singers such as Roger Miller and Jim Stafford. On December 8, 2005, The Agoraphobic Cowboy was announced as a nominee for the 2006 Grammy for Best Comedy Album.

VS

Ricky Gervais

Ricky Dene Gervais (born June 25, 1961) is an Emmy, Golden Globe and BAFTA award-winning English comic writer and performer from Reading, Berkshire. Gervais found mainstream fame with his BBC Two television programme The Office and the series Extras which he co-wrote and co-directed with friend and collaborator, Stephen Merchant. Besides writing and directing the shows, Gervais also played the lead roles of David Brent in The Office and Andy Millman in Extras. Gervais has received many awards for his work on The Office, most notably two Golden Globes (one for acting, one for the show itself), as well as numerous British Academy Television Awards and British Comedy Awards, amongst others. The show missed out on what was considered to be a definite Emmy Award nomination because there were not enough episodes broadcast in the U.S. before the deadline for consideration. Gervais received an honorary award at the annual Rose d'Or ceremony in Switzerland on April 29, 2006. The award is given to "an individual who has made an exceptional contribution to the global entertainment business". Gervais has been nominated for best stand-up award at this year's Loaded LAFTAS with NIVEA for Men. On September 16, 2007, Gervais won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role of Andy Millman on Extras.

Voting will be open for two days.

I'll probably release the bracket after all of the first round matchups are announced.

It would have been great as a five minute sketch.
