Football Player Nicknames
 

Is it just me or aren't there any good nicknames out there for football players any more? Billy White Shoes Johnson, The Assassin, The Rocket Ismail, The Minister of Defense, Primetime, etc. are just some off the top of my head I remember.

The only guy I can think of right now with a nickname is Steroids Merriman...err...Lights Out.

You can't call a player "The Assassin" in this day and age. Well except O.J.

There's still Adrian "All Day" Peterson.

P.S. You forgot the best football nickname ever, The Nigerian Nightmare.

I think the best nickname for a current player is "Joey Harrington." The best thing about it is that it can apply to any quarterback, and it's transitory. Every time a quarterback throws a pass and misses his receiver, he gets the nickname "Joey Harrington." It's great when it happens to the quarterback who's playing against your favorite team.

I like Troy "bounty hunter" Polamalu.

I always liked Howard "House" Ballard. Kind of dwarved "the Fridge." House is just a great nickname of a big offensive lineman.

"Ocho-cinco" is a pretty good one, too.

The Steelers have a few nicknames that are widely used, but are not overly clever:
"Big" Ben Roethlisberger
"Fast" Willie Parker

Iron Head was great.

I think we should make some up for the players since there is a lack of nicknames...

Sebastian "The Drunk" Janikowski
Ted "Gunga" Ginn Jr

Actually, "Sea Bass" is a solid nickname.

Najah "The Dump Truck" Davenport

Calvin Johnson's nickname is "Megatron".

There's also Flozelle "The Hotel" Adams.

You are forgetting the Fulcher Vulture and Carl Zander of the Jungle. Man, some old school Bengalis.

J.B. "Magic" Dennis has a cool nickname. :)
