summer button

I see a button called summer listed in the player window. What does it do and when is it active. Thanks

Same week you set the ticket prices and franchise designations are due.

The button is to send one of your players with less than two years of Pro experience to the "Foreign league" (think on the NFL Europe) to gain experience. It helps to speed up the development of that player.

Based on my experience (two seasons :D), it appears to be hit or miss. The first year, the guy came back unchanged. The second player came back with an 18 point jump in current AND a four point increase in future ratings.

That's not to imply that I think it's random; the first player was a bum, while the second player already had good ratings. Maybe the player has to have the potential in order to benefit from summer league. In that case, it makes sense that it will not work for everyone and will not provide equal increments of improvement for poor and good players alike.

It's a nice addition to the game, regardless.

I agree with this. It speeds development. If the guys stinks, then he will go nowhere. If he's a future star, he should get a little boost to get there. Now, with that said, the help file states that on occasion, it will make a nobody into a somebody.
