FOFC Pandora Radio Station
Okay, based on this thread, http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/...ad.php?t=50207, the idea of a shared FOFC Radio station on Pandora didn't get a ton of immediate backing, but I want to do it anyway. The biggest obstacle with the station is that only the creator of the station can make changes to it -- if anyone else does, they make the station "their own" meaning that any changes the creator makes to it won't be carried over to you.
My proposal is that everyone submits a song or artist that they would like to have included in the station every so often -- maybe once per week? But I'm definitely open to other ideas! Passacaglia 1. Fists Up -- The Blow 2. It'5 -- Architecture in Helsinki 3. We Have a Map of the Piano -- Mum 4. Peppermint Patty -- Vince Guaraldi 5. Apparat Organ Quartet lordscarlet 1. The Avett Brothers Dodgerchick 1. Pantera 2. 46 & 2 -- Tool 3. Nagisa Ni Te 4. A Kiss to Build a Dream On -- Louis Armstrong 5. Way Down in the Hole -- Blind Boys from Alabama Scoobz0202 1. Steely Dan 2. Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress -- The Hollies 3. Girl From the North Country -- Bob Dylan 4. Brothers in Arms -- Dire Straits Butter_of_69 1. Lush 2. And You Lied To Me -- The Besnard Lakes 3. Intervention -- The Arcade Fire 4. Svefn-g-englar -- Sigur Ros 5. Crosses -- Jose Gonzalez Antmeister 1. Kings of Convenience 2. I Tried -- Bone Thugs-N-Harmony ntndeacon 1. How Do You Tell Someone -- Cowboy Mouth 2. Squirrel Nut Zippers path12 1. Thievery Corporation 2. Frontier Psychiatrist -- The Avalanches 3. Gomez wade moore 1. Carbon Leaf 2. Rascal Flatts 3. Waste of Mind -- Zebrahead Breeze 1. Uncle Tupelo Lathum 1. Workers Song -- Dropkick Murphys 2. Whistles the Wind -- Flogging Molly 3. Walk Like a Zombie -- Horrorpops 4. That's What She Gets for Loving Me -- Brooks and Dunn SirFozzie 1. Tom Sawyer -- Rush |
Sounds interesting.
|
I'm down with it.
|
That's silly -- you should be able to create a station that others that have been given access can manipulate.
My first choice: The Avett Brothers |
Create it already! :)
|
Mine: Pantera
not much of a surprise I'm sure |

+1 Pretty Girl From Chile is a rockin' song. |

My main Pandora station is Sevendust. -Cork |
The station has been created. Since I couldn't find Antmeister's "Cheat," I used "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" to get it started. I'll add everyone's suggestions next. In order to get it shared, add agage1 AT gmail DOT com to your friends list, and mention something about FOFC. I'll add everyone's suggestions after I go downstairs and get some candy.
|
Only two suggestions? I guess that wasn't as difficult as I thought. The Avett Brothers and Pantera have both been added. Keep in mind that you can add songs as well.
|
I forgot to mention something about fofc, but I am homan9118 (homan9118 AT gmail DOT com).
My suggestion: Steely Dan :) |
eh... stupid question.. how do i find the station? i bookmarked some of you though
|
I'll go with one artist to start:
Lush. |
If you guys are adding me as friends, it's not telling me. I shared the station with Scoobz -- I think the rest of you will need to PM me your email address, or post it in the thread. Scoobz, let me know if you can listen to it!
|
Steely Dan and Lush have been added (and I approve of both additions)!
|
Mine just let me add you and listen to FOFC Radio without being accepted?
It also didn't allow me to type a message when adding you. |
dola: I'm listed as pandora AT idledreams DOT net
|
I open it up, and it starts up Starship's "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now".
Luckily, there are no open windows nearby. |

Oh, okay. Keep sending me your email addresses, anyway -- I thought that when you guys added me, I'd be able to add you! |

If you've bookmarked me (agage1 AT gmail DOT com), and click on my name to get my profile, you should be able to spot FOFC Radio and play it. |
Sweet. Its playing Bodhisattva by Steely Dan. Awesome.

Nice. Must be from Everybody Wants To Rule The World. Blame Antmeister. What I've been hearing: The Cure, Pictures of You -- Nice Slayer, Skeletons of Society -- Not my thing, but I sat through it :p Belly, Now They'll Sleep -- I have that album! Must be from Lush -- I don't have any of their albums, but thought they were pretty good, without ever really getting into them Lush, I've Been Here Before -- Never heard this song before, but I like it. |
Just a reminder that you can't do thumbs up and thumbs down when listening to the station. Well, you can, but you'll stop getting the updates of everything we all add!
|
Hmm... I don't see it, I'm lorena.marks AT gmail.com

Fortunately it warns you of this if you try to thumbs down (or up) something. Not that I tried to thumbs down Starship or anything. |

I shared it with you -- it said it sent you an email. |

Oh yeah -- I read that in the FAQ, but wasn't sure if I believed it. Oh, I also read that the reason it asks for your gender is because it customizes the ads you get according to gender. Pretty weird. |

I got it! I'm currently listening to Lush's Ciao which is not something I would normally listen to. Thanks for setting this up Pass! :) |

Rock on! |
I'm playing "Pretty Girl From San Diego" by the Avett Brothers. I like it so far.
|

I'm listening to "Signs" from the same band. Definitely not something I listen to, but it's nice to have a little diversity in my playlist :) |
I'm listening to what I would classify as a Dodgerchick selection... Slayer. I don't know if I've ever listened to Slayer in my life.
I was getting into a little music rut, this is actually helping me break out of it a bit. Thanks, Pass (and the other participants)! |

I know!! That's what I'm sayin' :) Definitely one of mine... I was just coming here to post that I'm actually listening to a Slipknot song on the FOFC Station... woot! :D |
Okay I will try this. [email protected]

Avett Brothers rule ;).. Too bad I can't use this at work, may try at home though... |

I agree with this. I guess I can see why people might want to use an established shared sation as a starting point, then "make it their own" by customizing it how they want. I emailed them and told them what I wanted the station to do, and they thought it was a cool idea, so maybe they'll implement it. Some more thoughts: What do you think of the pace? Since I'm impatient, I want to be able to add everyone's music, but I think it is possible to go too fast, and it might be nice to let it grow a little bit at a time. Also, I guess we still don't know how many people will do this -- we might get more with the evening crowd, or people who aren't online today, because of long weekends. Also, should we have some kind of policy for thumbs down? My first inclination was that it's just about hearing new stuff, and people can skip songs (and if they skip too many, they can just take a break and listen to their own stations for a while). But on the other hand, it might not be the end of the world if someone like a song that's thumbed down. |

I liked the Pantera song it played... "Cemetery Gates". Maybe you headbangers aren't as weird as I thought. ;) This project has promise if we can get some more suggestions, as long as everyone realizes they're not going to love everything that's on here, but are open to hearing new things and genres. The Avett Brothers is also not normally my bag, but I liked a couple of the songs it put on in that vein. This is going to be a nice addition to my rotation of music listens throughout the week. |

Welcome! Have anything you want to add? |
Steely Dan makes its first appearance... Reelin' in the Years. Can we give anything 8 thumbs up? Is that too many?
|

Artists: Kings of Convenience Bone Thugz and Harmony Ooops I see it is only one. Try Kings of Convenience first then Bone Thugz and Harmony next week. |

Nice choice, Ant. |
I am randylh (randylh@yahoo dot com)
My suggestion: How do you Tell Someone by Cowboy Mouth |
Quote:
It's cool that you guys have been getting old stuff. On my personal radio station, I added Steely Dan, and got stuff from Two Against Nature, and some Donald Fagen solo. I remember hearing The Fez, but that was it for older stuff. |
Quote:
Kings of Convenience are added. |
Quote:
Sent you an email, and added your song. Cool that we have another song among all these artists mentioned so far! |
|

Done and added. |

I've heard two songs by them now already. I didn't notice the first song was by them until after it was done playing it, but I liked the next one, Know-How. On their page, it listed David Crosby and Dinosaur Jr. as similar artists. Weird combo. |
Ah, Thievery. I hear way too much of them. :)
|

Right after Reelin' in the Years, I got Running on Empty by Jackson Browne (another personal favorite), and a Beatles song I've never heard before. :) |
