Franchising a guy two years in a row.....

I am sure we have had this question a few times, so sorry if I am repeating something. I have a stud WR that wanted a 4 year, 47 mil contract last year after I franchised him. I tried negotiating, he wouldn't budge, so I had to franchise him again. Now he is pissed, and will not negotiate. I would probably give him his contract that he wnats now (dont tell his agent), but is there any chance he comes back to the table?

Nope.

Most likely the only way you can have a chance at getting him again would be to cut him at the end of a season, and pray he forgives your past injustices in the next years FA process. But that's basically an exploit.

can you not keep franchising him or is he holding out as well?

I believe there are several instances of the AI franchising a couple years in a row and the player held out only to later sign a contract. I seem to remember doing that to Joe Montana at one point...

In my SP league, the AI franchised the same player 3 years in a row.

The player then resigned with the same team.

FWIW...the player card never showed the player holding out when he was franchised...maybe this is the reason why he did eventually resign.

Also:

Loyalty=very low(8)

Wants Winner=average(46)

Experience=9 years

Initial league starting draft=6th round, 5th pick

Agent=stubborn negotiator low(39)...agent rank=#15

For my guy (Tedd Ginn)
37 loyalty, 46 winner, 7 years experience. Agent has high stubborn (65). im basically gonna stick it out and hope he doesnt hold out. if he wont sign again ill franchise him and deal him next year

I had to franchise Matt Leinart 10 years in a row. He was the best QB in the league, led us to multiple superbowls but would never negotiate with me (even in the beginning) I even tried absurd amounts of money twice what any player in the league was making and he wouldn't budge.

so I just franchised him year after year.

Thats kind of outrageous seeing as you need to increase it 25 percent a year after the first year. you would be paying him about twice as much as everyone else. I hope he did well for you.

At this point I would just trade him, because that's what would happen in real life.
