Wouldn't the Pats going 16-0, then 0-1 be sweet?

Discuss. :)

Lorena 12-31-2007 02:54 PM

yes

will probably not happen tho.

SirFozzie sighting in 5... 4... 3... ;)

Atocep 12-31-2007 02:56 PM

If they weren't so damn good you wouldn't be making this thread.

Joe 12-31-2007 02:57 PM

no

Chubby 12-31-2007 03:06 PM

they will lose to the Colts in the AFC title game

Lorena 12-31-2007 03:07 PM

It'd be even better (for me anyway) if they lost against the Chargers... although they'll probably be out in the first round anyway :(

Senator 12-31-2007 03:10 PM

God, this takes me back. I remember the boyz and I having this discussion when the 36 Bears were making a run.

Anthony 12-31-2007 03:22 PM

i hope they lose the AFC title game. i just want Brett Favre to win. i don't think there's anyone who would be rooting for the Pats if the matchup was Packers/Pats (other than Pats fans).

Yup, agreed... he so deserves it.

Well, SirFozzie and st.cronin would root against him... guaranteed.

It might happen.. the pats haven't been the soul-destroying monsters they were mid season (just playing the Pats was enough to send teams into a tailspin, after losing to the patriots, teams went 4-11 the next week), and in one game anything can happen. I still think they're better then even odds to win the whole thing, but anything can and probably will happen.

Lorena 12-31-2007 03:34 PM

Sometimes I wonder if they "played poorly" towards the end of the season so as to throw opponents off in the playoffs.

MizzouRah 12-31-2007 03:36 PM

I might shed one tear.

That's what the Dolphins were doing all season. Unfortunately, Cameron didn't realize that not every team makes the playoffs.

Ugh, Patriots media wankfest v. Brett Favre media wankfest, the nation loses either way.

I'm a Packer fan and I may not be able to handle that. But I hope I am given the chance to find out.

It has been quiet on the retirement questions though, a Superbowl trip would be two weeks of retirement questions.

stevew 12-31-2007 06:32 PM

Steelers/Cowboys for the fourth time...that's my prediction

st.cronin 12-31-2007 06:33 PM

Pats/Pack Super Bowl would be awkward for me. My live-in girlfriend's uncle actually played for the Packers, and was inducted into the Circle of Life or whatever they call it. So, if that's the matchup, I would have to move out of my house for a couple of weeks, at least.

Izulde 12-31-2007 06:36 PM

I'd love to see the Pats lose because then '72's undefeated season is still preserved.

Grammaticus 12-31-2007 06:37 PM

It would be great. As consolation it may be a super bowl champion Pats with a perfect season..........and an asterik. Dirty cheaters.

It had to be brought up. And it always will when discussing the current Pats team.

The Packers only have the Packers Hall of Fame as far as I know. The names on the wall outside the stadium are guys who are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. If there is something else I don't know about it....

Either way, tell him I love him. :D

I just like to mock it because I didn't get invited. I'm not bitter, though - I hear Lambeau is a dump, who'd want to actually go there...

And I'd like to see the Pats win it all just to shut the '72 Phins up (not that it would, apparently)

WSR 12-31-2007 07:22 PM

I was at a Christmas party watching the last game of the season, and that was exactly the discussion; watch them lose the first game in the playoffs. Would make the whole season a failure.

It's probably time to be over that. Especially since the Jets probably couldn't have beaten the Patriots this year if Tom Brady had invited their defense into the Patriots' huddle.

Kodos 12-31-2007 10:56 PM

Like it or not, that will forever be a part of the Pats legacy.

Pumpy Tudors 12-31-2007 10:59 PM

Since my team never had a reasonable chance to make the playoffs, I just want to see something completely off the wall. How about the Jaguars and Giants in the Super Bowl? It'd be a team that's never made the Super Bowl against a team with a quarterback that gets more shit than a toilet. I'd love to watch that, and it'd probably be the only way that I sit and watch the whole game.

like joe namath trying to molest suzy kolber will forever be a part of the jets legacy?

Exactly.

Except that that was not really game-related.

Namath's is closer to Dion Sanders getting arrested for fishing in a private lake. But Broadway didn't get arrested and he gets Kudos for finishing college or trying too. Whatever, he's really old.

The Patriots are closer to Barry Bonds, cheating to achieve better performance on the field. But the Pats didn't do anything illegal, just against the rules of the sport. So, maybe they are really closer to Pete Rose. Scratch that, Pete did not cheat to achieve better performance on the filed or affect the game.

Let's just crown the Patriots great and we can all say we were a part of it. The sport can always use something relavent, right?

Desnudo 01-01-2008 01:59 AM

I would love to see the Dolphins go 1-15 and celebrate like they won the lottery when they won their only game. That would be sweet.

Big Fo 01-01-2008 02:43 AM

Greg Camarillo such a hero, best moment of the NFL season by far :*****)

Ugh no. I don't see how people who want the Pats to lose because they're overhyped could root for Favre to win instead.

I don't care either way about the Patriots, but I hate Brett Favre and hope the Fudge Packers lose their first game by 40 points, Favre throws 6 ints, and then retires in the locker room while sobbing uncontrollably.

cthomer5000 01-01-2008 09:36 AM

If they lose in the playoffs I will actually be happy they went 16-0.

TroyF 01-01-2008 09:56 AM

Many, many teams have "struggled" at the end of the year and then went on tears in the playoffs. The 98 Broncos went 2-2 in their final 4 games. The wins were at home by 4 and 7 over .500 or below teams.

They outscored their three playoff opponents 96-42 with three games that were over by the middle of the third quarter.

These playoffs are better stocked than that years were. I do think the Patriots will have at least one game far closer than people seem to think they will. But. . .I don't think their late season struggles really mean anything. Every team they could play has a killer weakness:

Titans and Jags - too low scoring. You aren't beating the Pats scoring under 20 points. (unless Brady gets a concussion on the first series) Sorry, not going to happen.

Chargers - Phillip Rivers and Norv Turnver

Colts - the loss of Freeney, the one guy who seems to get pressure on Brady.

Steelers - Injuries, lack of a running game. TD's.

I only give two teams in the AFC realistic shots.

The Colts have Peyton Manning. With him, you always have a shot.

The Chargers. They have the tools to do it. A great running game. A TE that can play havoc with the slower LB's and S. A fierce pass rush. And most of all, motivation. If Rivers were to pull last year's version out of his ass, that game could be the single best playoff game of the year.

The problem is Norv is the coach and the odds are Rivers won't play a great game. And that means the Patriots probably roll to the Super Bowl and a matchup with Dallas or GB.

At this point, I think they do it.

I hope they don't because I can't stand Beli and because I've had enough of the Boston fans. (here we go) :)
