I'm Calling You Out, Maple Leaf Fans!
We only apparently play every three or four years, so I only rarely get to trade barbs with the large Toronto Maple Leaf contingent. :)
Get ready, Leafs. We're gonna smoke ya tonight! |

This is the 1st time Toronto has been to California since the 04 season. If Toskala starts, then I like our chances. Before his injury, he was lights out. If it is Raycroft or Clemmenson.....I dont even want to think about it. |
By the way
THANK YOU, THANK YOU THANK YOU for beating Ottawa last year:D |
Quote:
This is what the fans of the rest of the east have been saying to them for the past year and a half. |
There are Toronto fans on this board?
|
Quote:
If the Ducks don't win by 3 it should be considered a loss.If the Leafs win we get Brian Burke :D |
What sport is this? Hockey? There's still hockey?
:D |
Quote:
Um ... yeah, probably. Does that count as a "barb"? :) |

i've never heard of you |
You guys don't mind if we leave Sundin behind, do you? It would save everyone a lot of time in seven weeks.
We'll just pick up Bobby Ryan and the Oilers first round pick on the way out. Thanks. |
Dola... this is basically the equivalent of a USC fan posting an "I'm calling you out, Utah Poly-Technical Institute fans!" thread.
|
Quote:
Wow, I'm a huge Sundin fan, but please, let that happen!!!!! |
Here's the plan.
1. Brian Burke trades the Oilers first round pick and a prospect or two for Sundin at the deadline. 2. The Ducks win another Cup. 3. Having accomplished everything he can in Anaheim,. Burke takes the vacant Leafs GM job in the summer 4. "Hey, what do you know, it's my prospects and draft pick waiting for me!" 5. Sundin re-signs with the Leafs on July 1. 6. Everybody wins. 7. ??? 8. Cup! |

I'll take it |
Having spent time at the Penalty Box and Hockey's Future Leaf boards in the past, I must say it's refreshing and comforting to know that I'm in the company of pragmatic Leaf fans here. Even if we're the only ones left.

This is horrible, this plan. |

That went well.

Obviously, this is a good game for the Ducks, but I have to admit, now seeing them play, I see why Leafs fans are up in arms and/or despairing about their team.
Say what you will about the Leafs, but hockey is doing good when they are doing good. Same goes for the Wings; I would say the same thing about them if they were bad (even though I can't stand them). So I hope the Leafs take some positive steps and get back to the strong level they have had in the past. Sundin would be a terrific pickup. I would likely accept moving Edmonton's pick for him. That said, no way do I support Bobby Ryan leaving the franchise. |
I don't see how the Ducks are going to fit Sundin's salary in. Leafs would have to take 2 veterans to make it work I think. Maybe O'Donnell and someone else? I will riot if they trade Bobby Ryan, kid is going to be a scoring machine.
Good game tonight. Punk move by Belak to knee Parros, and then punch him when he was down after the fight. Otherwise pretty happy. |

He's only got about 2.5 million left, it probably wouldnt be to difficult at all. I'm not to familar with Anaheim's farm system, so I don't know what else the ducks could give us for Sundin. Sundin as a Duck makes you the favourite by far to win a cup. Wouldnt you trade anyone for that? |
the trick here is to get Sundin to cheat on his wife.
|
I only watched most of the second period of this game, but Wade Belak did a decent job in his fight with George Parros. Toskala was looking OK in net, too, although he had obviously given up a couple of goals before I'd started watching.
Speaking of the Leafs, I was in Hershey, PA, a few weeks ago, and I went to an AHL game out there. The Hershey Bears played against Toronto's AHL team, the Toronto Marlies. The Marlies tore the Bears up, with help from a Bates Battaglia goal and some good goaltending by Scott Clemmensen. It was the first AHL game I'd ever been to, but I was impressed by Toronto's play. Maybe the Leafs should bring up half the Marlies to play for them. |
I was reading an article on TSN.ca today about how the Canadian women's under 18 team beat Finland 17-0 to advance to the semifinal of the inaugural world women's under-18 hockey championship.
The second comment underneath that article isn't anything congratulatory it is... Quote:
Classic...was that you Maple Leafs? |
Haha. Leafs have awesome D.

This seems pretty realistic!! |

Re: Bobby Ryan. What's the deal with this kid? He's been an uber-prospect for three years, but hasn't really had much NHL impact. Shouldn't he have done more by now? Is he still considered a can't-miss, or is there a point where you start worrying that he's the next Chad Kilger? |
Quote:
Oh shut the hell up. |
Whatever happened to Chad kilger?
|
He was involved in the Selanne trade and then died.
|
Newman died???
|
No, he jumped from the second story. He's laying out there on the lawn faking his death!
|
Quote:
Kilger...good times. :) Naw, when Ryan was drafted, he was regarded as having higher upside than everyone not named Crosby, but had a way to go to get to the NHL. It was no shock he finished out his junior career. He might have actually done what he's doing now last year except the Ducks didn't really need him, so they preferred he keep playing regularly with his junior team and then in the AHL. He has actually been very solid in his stints with the team this year. I am disappointed they sent him down again, and not sure why they did that. I don't know that he's learning anything more in the AHL, where he has been dominating this year. I'm not concerned about Ryan at all. |
Quote:
Yeah I don't get the Ryan move either. He doesn't have to clear waivers, which is about the only reason I can possibly think he's down again. He's been one of the Ducks best scoring threats whenever he has played significant minutes. For some reason the team seems to be in love with Brandon Bochenski, who seems like a complete waste of space. Burke has lost the plot a bit so far this season. |
Quote:
I actually like the Bochenski move. It's a buy low sorta situation. He wasn't doing too well in Boston, but he showed last year he can make an impact as a depth forward. And you know how much we need scoring. I thought it was good to see him score last night. All that said, yeah, ability to avoid waivers is the only reason I can think to shuttle Ryan back down to the minors. |
