My Cowboys lost :-(!

I can't cheer for a winner anymore. The mavs let me down last year. The cowboys this year. Bama isn't lighting it up. I can't win!

Can anyone relate?

I will lose a post.

The two teams that my sports universe rotate around are the Cubs and the Fighting Illini - zero championships in my 35 years (counting football and basketball for college sports). I can relate.

I hear that! You haven't tasted it in awhile. It hurts. I wish I was from the New England area. That would be nice! LOL

Oh well.

If you're a fan of an NFL team, an average performance would be a championship every 32 years. Dallas is ahead of the curve.

If you have teams in each of the NFL, NBA, and MLB, you should experience one championship every 10 years or so.

Of course, since I'm Boston fan, these numbers don't apply to me.

You got that right, about you and Boston that is.

rjolley 01-13-2008 09:18 PM

I'm a Chicago fan. I've had 8 championships in my 37 years. So, I'm good for awhile.

braggtd 01-13-2008 09:19 PM

Thank goodness for the Bulls huh?

Rizon 01-13-2008 09:19 PM

A's and Dolphins.

The only championship I've seen was the A's in 89, which was since been proven a steroid sham. So 0 legitimate championships.

molson 01-13-2008 09:21 PM

I had zero in my first 15 years of being old enough to pay attention to sports, and now 6 in the last 6 years (including Syracuse basketball), with great shot at a 7th.

braggtd 01-13-2008 09:22 PM

Thank goodness for my FOF Tennessee Titan Team! Back to back championships. Working for number 3 in a row! Not sure that this counts, but oh well!

mauchow 01-13-2008 09:29 PM

I got nothin' in my real years. I was a Bulls fan but there weren't too many non-Bulls fans so I won't count those.

My Cubbies, Vikings and Bucks haven't done much in my cheering years.

braggtd 01-13-2008 09:30 PM

I was a Bulls fan myself, but I can't count those championships.

Galaxy 01-13-2008 09:33 PM

A Buffalo fan here. Talk about being so close, yet falling short.

mckerney 01-13-2008 09:40 PM

It could be a lot worse for you:

rjolley 01-13-2008 09:52 PM

I was a Bulls fan before Jordan came on board, so I count them. I remember the days of Quentin Daily, Reggie Theus, and Orlando Woolridge.

Didn't know Jerry Sloan was our coach back then.

Sorry I am still bitter about the 1975 Playoff game against my Vikings!

RedKingGold 01-13-2008 10:05 PM

So, wait. Is this guy a spammer or am I being rhetorical?

Lorena 01-13-2008 10:23 PM

I'm sure I'll be dissapointed next week as will all Giants fans.

Antmeister 01-13-2008 10:25 PM

How about being a Chargers and Padres fan. No Super Bowl or World Series win in the history of their existence. I am hoping the Chargers can get there again and do it this time because I have only witnessed one other Super Bowl appearance and 2 World Series appeareances in which they were destroyed by the opponent.

Long time member. First time spammer.

RendeR 01-13-2008 10:39 PM

I've got the Bengals, Reds and Sabres which gives me 3 World Series titles in my lifetime. 2 Super Bowl Appearances and 1 Standley Cup Finals game 7 THEFT of our Cup.
Last title was the Reds wiping the floor with Oakland in the 1990 World Series. Funny though, I still remember the entire universe telling me that the A's would sweep the weak hitting Reds easily as their powerful lineup would crush our second rate pitching staff.....

Ahh the memories.

With an impressive post rate of 0.37 posts per month. Should be threatening Jeebs and 27 at that rate. :D

i feel for buffalo, but lets not start claiming the sabres won an extra game in that series

Greyroofoo 01-14-2008 03:19 AM

I share your pain.

But Cowboys and Colts fans should look on the bright side, the person managing their teams' off-seasons isn't named Matt Millen.

Pumpy Tudors 01-14-2008 07:52 AM

Denver Broncos (yay!)
St. Louis Cardinals (yay!)
New Jersey Devils (yay!)
Memphis Grizzlies (shoot me)

You have a very diversified portfolio.

I can only blame John Elway, Ozzie Smith, Sean Burke, and my wife.

But, you had the CLIPPERS for some years. Cmon, it doesn't get any better than that. :)

Broncos - 2 titles within the last 11 years.
Rockies - 1st WS last year, destroyed in it.
Avs - 2 titles within the last 15 years.
Buffs Football - 1 title in last 20 years (shared title)
OkSt. Basketball - A couple of final fours in the last 15 years.
Nuggets - ummmm. . . ouch.

Alan T 01-14-2008 08:32 AM

Since I was born (1975)

Falcons - 0 championships
Hawks - 0 Championships
Braves - 1 world series championship

The only thing that has helped my sport suffering was Tech being the 1990 college football champions.

Dr. Sak 01-14-2008 08:47 AM

I am a Philly sports fan who lives in Pittsburgh. I don't want to hear any whining. Only the Phillies (1980) and the Sixers (1983) won titles in my lifetime. Too bad I was too young to remember. At least Penn State has won two titles, 1982 and the one in 1986 I remember vividly.

Cringer 01-14-2008 09:57 AM

I am so glad the Cowboys lost. Now all the fake Cowboys fans can go back into their holes down and clean off the Go Cowboys writing on their cars.

DaddyTorgo 01-14-2008 10:08 AM

i can't sympathize.

sachmo71 01-14-2008 10:19 AM

Green Bay would be a good team to root for.

JeeberD 01-14-2008 10:21 AM

Suck it up, buttercup.

Pumpy Tudors 01-14-2008 10:28 AM

Hmmm... "braggtd"... "bragg"... Cowboys fan... Texas...

Ummmmm...

Mustang 01-14-2008 10:33 AM

So, is it REALLY a nutty arcade or is that just more boisterous bragging by a Cowboy's fan?

Lathum 01-14-2008 10:50 AM

I must give Jeebs credit, he took it like a man.

JeeberD 01-14-2008 10:51 AM

You mean by punching the walls after I logged off the computer? Yeah, pretty much...

did you get my PM?

JeeberD 01-14-2008 11:02 AM

Yeah, I did. I'll get it in the mail soon...

Big Fo 01-14-2008 11:17 AM

Atlanta Braves (95)
Miami Dolphins (before birth)
Orlando Magic (never)
Manchester United (last year woohoo)

Still not so hot looking at the US sports only.

JeeberD 01-14-2008 11:26 AM

I've actually been reasonably lucky with championships. In my lifetime:

Dallas Cowboys - '92, '93, '95
Houston Rockets - '94, '95
Houston Astros - Never (Stupid White Sox)
UTEP Miners - Never gonna happen again
Edmonton Oilers - I won't count them, since it's the only time I've jumped on a bandwagon. If they had won in '06, though, I would have counted that.

Five championships isn't too bad...

VPI97 01-14-2008 11:28 AM

The only teams to have won a championship at the same time I was rooting for them were the '85 Bears and the '90 Reds. As a current fan of Cincy baseball, Falcons football, Thrasher hockey, Hawks basketball (if I had to pick an NBA team) and VT football & basketball, I don't think I'll be seeing any more for a while.

At least my son's little league baseball (19-0) and soccer teams (10-0 and he scored 32 goals in those 10 games) have went undefeated in the past calendar year. He rocks.

I'm with RenderR, but I don't think the Sabres would of won that game even if that goal got waived off. The Sabres were starting to wear down, and the Stars just out-played them. However, anything can happen in hockey.

Wolfpack 01-14-2008 11:38 AM

NC State football--never, and most likely never will
NC State basketball--1983 and all downhill from there (seriously 43-13 at the half against Carolina? WTF?)
Carolina Panthers--lost '03 Super Bowl, now can't make the playoffs in a lousy NFC
Carolina Hurricanes--2006 was beyond my wildest dreams...man, how I wish we could get that magic back
Colorado Rockies--This year's ride to the Series made up quite a bit on all the bad years over the past decade
Charlotte Bobcats--At times I care because they're the hometown team, but then there's the fact that it's become essentially the North Carolina Tar Heels professional basketball club that makes it much more difficult to like them

Pumpy Tudors 01-14-2008 01:26 PM

I hope you guys know that this is the year for New Orleans basketball to take the national championship. Don't let Saturday's loss to South Alabama fool you. We can't beat the Jaguars if we played them 5-on-4. The rest of the country would get torn up by UNO, though.

GO PRIVATEERS!
