Double coverage against the run
Coach Rex has the same double team recommendation on all of the pass coverage situations. I would assume that it is not in your best interest to double cover when you want those players to focus on the run. Anybody have any thoughts on this, or is double coverage only there if it ends up being a pass (play diagnosis?)

I've always wondered about this too. So, not sure if it actually matters, but sometimes I will dial down the double coverage in running situations as opposed to passing situations.

Funny enough, I've always felt I can be free to double cover MORE in strong running situations, due to the fact the opposition will have fewer guys running patterns.

Dola:
I should probably elaborate a bit... My thinking is that the top receiver will usually be on the field in one or two WR sets and there is a higher likelihood that he will be a target if they DO decide to pass as opposed to his target ratio in a 4 or 5 WR set. |
Interesting point also.
