Waiting, Waiting, Waiting

I hate waiting.

I ordered a new TV on Monday. In theory, it's being delivered today. I got the confirmation email that it was, and my credit card has been charged/processed/approved.

But it's 2:30 in the afternoon and as the day wears on, I get more nervous for some reason, like maybe it won't show up.

Of course, right now having a new tv (big tv) is sort of silly, because I can't get HD where I currently live, but given that I hope to buy a house in the first half of the year, and given that I have a PS3 and a 360 that will like it, plus I got a good deal....

NOW IF IT WOULD ONLY SHOW UP!!!

You should complain and get something free out of it.

terpkristin 01-20-2008 04:17 PM

It's now 5:15 p.m. Eastern Time and it still hasn't shown up.

And I've been on hold for 20 minutes with Best Buy Customer "Care" to try to see if I can figure out where it is.

Oh I have a bad feeling that this will not end well.

i find it so funny when a girl yells that as a slight, like it's a bad thing. :)

Usually "good Deal" and MSRP Buy are not mentioned in the same sentance. Circuit City is usually where it's at for prices.....at least that is who i pricematch time after time for customers at Sears.

I got a good price on a TV. I'm getting f'd by the delivery company who says they have no record of a delivery scheduled for today and hung up on me when I asked to speak to a manager.

I swear they should be glad I don't own a gun...

tk, do realize it is Sunday and tomorrow's a holiday? Didn't know there would be scheduled deliveries.

would you shoot your phone with it?

stevew 01-20-2008 05:54 PM

How do you not have any guy friends with trucks? Assuming this thing is an LCD, it's not that heavy, even at 52". As far as setup goes, I'm sure you are smart enough to hook it up, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to do so.

har har

;)

Dr. Sak 01-20-2008 05:56 PM

Wait till they deliver it and tell you that you have to wait at least 2 hrs before you can turn it on since it has been in the truck and it is cold outside.

I like how she restrained herself from typing "fuck" but let loose with a "cocksuckers".

CraigSca 01-20-2008 11:56 PM

If there's one good thing that came out of this, we got to see Maryland beat North Carolina in Chapel Hill :D

I did and do.

However, I ordered the TV Monday. On Tuesday I got a confirmation email and a confirmation call that the TV would be delivered on Sunday 1/20/2008. When it didn't show up, I got pissed, nevermind the 30+ total minutes of waiting on hold because "Best Buy values it's customers,...we really care about customer service...."

Then when Best Buy finally talked to me and they said the delivery had been changed, ON FRIDAY, from Sunday to Monday, I got livid. Nary a phone call, nor an email (and I know they had both ways of contacting me). If they'd have called, it would have been an inconvenience (as I had to work today), not a problem. Because they didn't call and didn't show, it elevated it...

They did call Sunday night to confirm delivery on Monday between 10 and noon. It showed up at around 12:40 p.m., luckily my folks were at my place to sign for it.

It's all setup. It's pretty. I'm still livid at Best Buy, they are apologetic, though, and at the very least will be crediting me the delivery charge.

If that doesn't work, http://www.flickr.com/photos/terpkristin/2209840149/ should (that and the picture after it).

Neuqua 01-21-2008 05:06 PM

Is that the xbr4?

stevew 01-21-2008 05:10 PM

actually i think it's the XBR5, although it's hard to tell if that's glossy black or flat black. Either way, nice TV, although the 5 is a bit of a rip off....no real difference between the 4 and 5 except for Frame, and a slightly longer warranty(maybe a few other minor things)

terpkristin 01-21-2008 05:11 PM

Yes, XBR4. From my receipt,
Sony-BRAVIA XBR 52" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV-KDL-52XBR4

CamEdwards 01-21-2008 05:25 PM

and jay mariotti is who you use to show us the beautiful high-def picture?

girl, you've got some weird taste. :P

Farrah Whitworth-Rahn 01-21-2008 08:20 PM

Looks like TK went to Ikea in anticipation of this sexy new TV. I have TV and furniture envy. :)

finkenst 01-21-2008 08:43 PM

and i'm getting my new furniture delivered saturday.

Joe 01-21-2008 08:50 PM

Ikea makes some real crap furniture

Mr. Wednesday 01-21-2008 10:36 PM

That's a nice TV.

You said you don't get HD, but have you tried over-the-air? I can get NBC, CBS, and Fox HD signals OTA with just a rabbit ears sitting beside my TV, but I'm also within ten or fifteen miles of the transmitters and it's relatively flat geographically.

Mr. Wednesday 01-21-2008 10:37 PM

BTW, if you need HDMI cables to hook up HD hardware, monoprice.com is where it's at.

MikeVic 01-21-2008 11:02 PM

I am so jealous.

That was my first thought. C'mon, something better than that idiot ;)

Re: Mariotti....I actually hadn't been paying attention to who was on. I had ATH on while I was getting some stuff ready to cook dinner (washing chicken, etc), and at some point, I decided it'd be good to grab the camera to take a pic. Of course, I don't remember who the panelists were, but unless Adande or Michael Smith were there, it'd be slim pickin's....

Re: the furniture...oddly enough, I bought the TV stand over a year ago when I first thought about buying a new TV and thought it would be nicer than the one I had, which was an uber hand-me-down when I was in grad school. Turns out the stand is a good size, hahaha. I like IKEA stuff for some stuff (I don't mind my TV stand or DVD tower terribly, but I have had bad experiences with their clothes dressers, for example). Oddly enough, one of my co-workers also said I should get a new stand to go with the new TV...

And finally, thanks Mr. W, I'll keep that site in mind when I need more cables (or when friends/family do). :)
