Computer acting very funny

ok< multitude of problems here>

my cat has probably been walking on my keyboard

the period key is turning out this button> like im holding in shift

shift doesn"t work

my caps lock button is highlighted< when i click it to unhighlight it< I TYPE IN ALL CAPS> so it"s backwards>

also< every link i click keeps opening new windows even though i have my options checked for open in new tab> so i have $ (four shit) fofc windows open just to get to this thread

also< i tried to restart my computer and it"s not responding

im afraid the last time i tried to restart my cpu and i had to manually press the power button< my hd was corrupted and i had to get a new cpu

that wouldnt be the case here right< just goofy keyboard functioning?

any insight would be mucho appreciated!

korme 02-12-2008 04:38 PM

oh< also if i open up a folder and click a file anywhere on the page< it highlights everything above it like i"m holding the shift key down> so i dunno

MikeVic 02-12-2008 04:40 PM

Did you give it acting lessons?

Mustang 02-12-2008 04:46 PM

Could be worse, your computer could be acting like ^top

Huckleberry 02-12-2008 04:51 PM

Your shift key is stuck. The reason it isn't capitalizing letters is because your CAPS LOCK is backwards. CAPS LOCK doesn't affect the number or symbol keys.

So basically you have already identified both problems.

ThunderingHERD 02-12-2008 04:52 PM

A stuck shift key.

Huckleberry 02-12-2008 04:54 PM

D'oh.

I confused myself with the CAPS LOCK.

As he said above, it's just the shift key. I didn't realize you were typing most of the post with the CAPS LOCK key highlighted.

Funny. Last night my laptop kept on opening new webpages of FOFC in tabs. I couldn't close them out fast enough and it didn't stop.

Pumpy Tudors 02-12-2008 04:58 PM

Shorty, maybe you should put your computer on "It's Showtime at the Apollo."

korme 02-12-2008 05:00 PM

would a stuck shift key be affecting why my computer won"t restart?

korme 02-12-2008 05:01 PM

it also doesn"t appear to be stuck< it feels fully functional like all the other buttonsokok

just took the button off and nothing looks stuck< don"t know where to go from here

korme 02-12-2008 05:03 PM

hyhhhhhabhyubujii

HEYHhey

lol noo

korme 02-12-2008 05:03 PM

I just broke my main shift key prying it off to look at it

Turns out it was the shift key on the right side that i use so rarely i didn't even know it was there.

Groundhog 02-12-2008 05:04 PM

I'd probably fork out $10 for a new keyboard.

korme 02-12-2008 05:05 PM

Nevermind I didn't break it. Just taught myself how to put a key back in. Just cause I'm on the net alot doesn't mean I go under the hood very often!

Yea, I turned caps on so I wouldn't look like a jackass typing an entire post in all caps.

Just to clarify, by "it" you mean both shift keys, correct? I never use the right shift key--sometimes I forget it's there.

korme 02-12-2008 05:09 PM

Well, dammit, I hooked the two bars into the little spaces they go into, but now the button is just plain loose. What am I missing to keep it in place? Did I snap something off? (laptop, obviously)

It's not the looking at porn that's the problem....
