PING: Boxing + Wrestling fans - WWE No Way Out Spoiler
Tonight the Big Show (7 foot, 400 lbs) came back to WWE and did an angle with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Jr stuck up for Rey Mysterio leading Show to taunt him. Show got on his knees mocking Floyd, who proceeded to legit break his nose with three good shots. I think they're leading to a boxing type deal at WrestleMania in six weeks.
Wait for it on youtube lol, those shots were vicious. |
What a weird way to bring back the Big Show - being punched out by a Welterweight?

People are speculating those were some shoot punches. Show did look pissed and he isn't that good an actor. I know though Shows been training to box and WWE loves mainstream appeal. Still, it's definetly odd. |
Floyd seems like he would get off doing something like this, so it wouldn't surprise me.
|
be hilarious if Show sued him....

boy does Mayweather and his crew look like a bunch of punks.

Those shots were nasty, and Big Show certainly looked pissed. Kinda odd that at full speed LIVE we all thought Mayweather had thrown only two rights, and when you saw the replay it was possible to see Mayweather had actually thrown four punches, with his left breaking Big Show's nose at the end. And I'm a boxing fan, so I was really impressed that I couldn't see those shots.
Was the highlight of the night on a very good, although predictable, PPV. |
GR is proud!!!

Whether he was supposed to break his nose or not, that's anybody's guess.
But it's an angle that will be continued tonight on Raw ... even if they aren't sure what to do with it at this point. Quasi-spoiler rumor

Well I got to catch a clip of it today.
He definitely pulled the punches, he wasn't trying to knock him out, but they still hurt like hell I'm sure, they weren't friendly that's for sure. Guys have balls that let these boxer and MMA guys smack them, because those guys are going to hit you, they don't know how to pull and furthermore they don't want too look weak so they're going to lay you out. Didn't Tito Ortiz break someone's jaw or something along those lines doing something similar? Was a very believable deal all around though. If that was all worked they did a very good job, it was very chaotic, and both guys looked really pissed. If they did find a way to work something with Floyd and De La Hoya that would be pretty big, but with Oscar signing to fight the beginning of May I'm not sure if that'll happen, but if they wanted to try and pull in some outside viewers for what is an almost set in stone rematch between the two(Why, I don't know) for the end of the year, this could help them build up even more interest. |
Floyd is a punk, he was pissed Show punked his height.

Didn't look like Floyd was the one that got punked to me. |

Duh. I know what kayfabe is, dingle-dorf. :) I was just saying that in that spot, it wasn't Floyd that got punked. |
It's a good work, but how would you like it if your boss told you to go out there and let this guy break your nose? Go out there, and seriously know that the guy was going to break your nose, or at the very least get 4 good shots in, and you have to take them. Honestly, as a worker goes, that would suck.

Pro fighters don't know how to pull punches? You're not serious are you? That is like saying that a musician is only able to play one type of music. |

By that I mean that fighters aren't in the business of making a punch look good but doing no damage. I'm sure they can pick it up. Not really my point though, bad wording..anyone can throw a punch a bit lighter, but pro guys in this circumstances have to make a point of their punches looking very legit, so the guy going against them is going to get a good hit. They don't want to risk looking weak either, so I they're less inclined to. I feel for the guys that are told to go in there with them. |
I like old-school wrestling punches.
"STOMP THE FOOT! MAKES THE PUNCH LOOK DEVASTATING!" |

Heh, and on top of that he'd been gone, I'm assuming for quite a length time? "Welcome back, good to have, here's what we're going do..." A real warm welcome back. |
