NCAA Top Gun 2008?

Two weeks till the selection show. I'd assume we're running this game this year, and I would like to be in.

Lathum 03-01-2008 06:18 PM

I'de be in fo sho

stevew 03-01-2008 06:31 PM

I know Radii and shorty are probably also a given. If we start sign ups early enough, we might even be able to get a couple games going.

Eaglesfan27 03-01-2008 06:32 PM

I'm interested.

Karlifornia 03-01-2008 06:49 PM

I want in definitely! I enjoy this game immensely.

timmynausea 03-01-2008 06:49 PM

I'll be back to try for the 3-peat.

Sublime 2 03-01-2008 07:11 PM

Radii 03-01-2008 07:26 PM

I'll run one if ya want, definitely would like to be in of course :)

hoopsguy 03-01-2008 07:41 PM

Interested if there are still spots available.

stevew 03-01-2008 10:23 PM

I think we usually play with 10, can it be expanded to 12 or does that dick up the talent pool way too much?

1. stevew
2. Shorty(?)
3. Radii
4. eaglesfan27
5. hoopsguy
6. karlifornia
7. timmynaseau
8. sublime2
9. Lathum
10. >

sooner333 03-01-2008 10:51 PM

I'd like to be in again.

Radii 03-01-2008 10:57 PM

we've always done it with 10. That ends up being 60 players drafted, 50 of them from the higher seeds, it probably dilutes it rpetty bad to go deeper.

Last year we had enough participation for 2 instances though, I once we get closer to tournament time I bet we will here too.

Radii 03-12-2008 01:10 PM

bump!

korme 03-12-2008 04:32 PM

Confirming my championship

ntndeacon 03-12-2008 05:12 PM

if it isnt too late I want in.

Logan 03-12-2008 05:16 PM

Funny...I was reading the Part Duex thread yesterday. Never noticed this was brought up again.

I'll go ahead and run the second game again. Ram, the winner from last year, doesn't seem to post much (last activity was around Christmas) but if he shows up, he'll have a guaranteed spot. Wade also helped me with the scoring (after basically taking over a team and making all the picks), so if he wants a spot, one is his also. Any other runoff is welcome in the second game, so continue to sign up.

korme 03-12-2008 05:20 PM

I say we go balls to the wall and just make this season one massive TG Challenge

How would we go about doing it though? It's usually hard enough to find 60 players, 90 might be impossible(15 people playing). Unless we were going to modify the rules and make you have 2 low seed players per team?

Or limit you to 2 players per region, something like that.

korme 03-12-2008 09:55 PM

Hard to find 60 players?

Let's see 1-9 seeds there are 36 of those, 5 starters to a roster = 180 players to choose from... all you need to do is be familiar with ESPN.com and you would have no problem finding players

I meant good players.

Radii 03-12-2008 10:20 PM

hm how about this:

we take signups through Sunday morning, ONLY SIGN UP IF YOU CAN SEND GOOD LISTS OR BE AROUND FOR THE DRAFT SINCE WE'RE ON A TIME LIMIT. If we get 14 or less we do one game, 15 or more we do 2, i think steve, logan and I have all volunteered to run a draft, so hopefully we won't have any problem throwing this together, and everyone look for a thread Sunday after the selection show and be ready to go.

Thoughts?

We're actually already at 12 almost guaranteeing us 2 games. Hell I really don't care, but the 2 game thing w/ lots of interest last year worked pretty well.

stevew 03-12-2008 10:40 PM

Would probably be helpful if we get a draft order together as soon as signups lock.

Also the play in game doesn't count, right?

korme 03-13-2008 12:35 AM

It can, but who the fuck wants a 16 seed?

Edit- I see, that'd be 2 games. In that case, I don't think so.

Last year, both of our games didn't count the play-in. Made it much easier to finish the draft by mid-Thursday than Tuesday night, or however it worked out.

Radii 03-13-2008 09:31 AM

yeah playin game doesn't count.

hoopsguy 03-13-2008 04:31 PM

Just to confirm - the plan is to start right after the selection show on Sunday?

I'm going to be on the road on Tuesday, so I want to make sure that I'm able to participate actively for at least part of the draft before having to resort to lists.

Neuqua 03-13-2008 05:35 PM

If there ends up being a second game, I'd love to get in on it.

dacman 03-13-2008 06:35 PM

Yes, please.

We usually don't put a clock on people until Monday 9am EST, but picks have always of course been allowed to start at selection.

Good to know. I may not be able to be on Sunday for more than 1 pick, depending upon Mrs. E. However, I can send a list if needed. Otherwise, I'll be ready to go Monday morning.

GoldenEagle 03-13-2008 10:04 PM

In.

Radii 03-15-2008 11:25 PM

we've got 15 people, which is pretty darn big for 1 game, and kinda small for 2. 20 would be ideal, any other takers?

Radii 03-16-2008 12:00 AM

Here's who I have listed as interested:

stevew
shorty
radii
eaglesfan27
hoopsguy
karlifornia
timmynausea
sublime2
lathum
sooner333
ntndeacon
logan
neuqua
dacman
goldeneagle
ram
jbergey22

if we get to 20 people at any point during the day tomorrow I'll go ahead and get groups assigned. If we don't, I'll get whoever is signed up as of 5pm and get everything set up. The goal is to have draft order and everything posted before 6pm so the draft(s) can start immediately once the brackets have been announced.

Last year we had the clock on people from 10am-4pm EST which was enough to push through anyone who had forgotten lists and such and get the draft done before the games started on Thursday.

Logan had volunteered to run the second game, I've got a PM to him to coordinate that assume he's still able to, WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO tournament time!!!!!!!!

ram 03-16-2008 12:06 AM

If you need more, I'll gladly defend my Part Duex Title.

Radii 03-16-2008 12:09 AM

excellent, up to 16

Logan 03-16-2008 11:11 AM

Just found out I'll be on a business trip this week, which means my internet access will be really limited. I don't see how I'll be able to run this thing. I think stevew mentioned earlier that he might be willing to run one of the drafts...would he or anyone else mind stepping up? Sorry guys...I should probably drop out of the draft but if an extra member is needed for either, I'll stay in it and make sure I keep it moving by a list.

jbergey22 03-16-2008 11:49 AM

Id like to be in if there is still an opening. Thanks

Radii 03-16-2008 12:22 PM

NP logan! jbergey22 you're in. Keeping you in for now logan, if more people enter or you dno't think you can list it up, that's cool just let me know.

Any volunteers to run game 2? Being unemployed it really won't be a problem for me to keep both drafts going, so its not a big deal either way.

Radii 03-16-2008 12:23 PM

room for 3 or 4 more!

Radii 03-16-2008 03:39 PM

any last minute NCAA fans here?

Radii 03-16-2008 04:39 PM

can someone go to http://www.random.org/sequences/

and generate a sequence from 1 to 17 please and post it here?

Thanks!

korme 03-16-2008 11:42 PM

Radii, do you have the old excel file that we used to track the scores? If so, could you upload it somewhere?

korme 03-19-2008 11:43 PM

Bueller

Radii 03-19-2008 11:58 PM

i've never used a spreadsheet, just added stuff up in the thread :/ I'm simple that way.

korme 03-20-2008 12:56 AM

But spreadsheets are fancier and it's fun to have things calculated for you! ;)

It's actually very easy to reproduce, I just am, ya know, lazy

korme 03-20-2008 04:22 PM

Made a new one for Microsoft Works Spreadsheet if you are interested

Radii 03-20-2008 04:27 PM

hah I went with google spreadsheets after this conversation last night!
