21 Club in New York City

In two weeks me and my girlfriend are going on vacation to New York and on one night I made reservations at the 21 Club. Unfortunatly I think the fact that jackets and ties required for men has scared her into thinking that she has to wear a $1000 cockktail dress. Can any locals (or I guess anyone who has been there) fill me in on what the woman wear? She isn't planning on wearing jeans and sandals, but I told her that a nice outfit would be more than enough and who cares what anyone else thinks. (Obviously I am also not a woman :) ) So is the club this uppitity or is it more hype than anything?

I told her I would put out a few feelers and she asked me how exactly I was going to do that. And then I told her that I would post it on a football message board which was of course greeted with a huge  . If she only knew that half of our trip's information and almost every movie we go see is from information here, she may actually change her tune!

Cool. We are going with your (her) Puleo's Too recommindation also for one of the nights. (from a previous thread about broadway plays) I found 21 club on the web and it looked like it would be a great night.

Yes, never been there but i would go fancy - she can get as dressed up as she wants!! I vote for little black dress if she wants an excuse to wear one! If she doesnt want to go that bold, a skirt and pretty top would be fine too i would guess. Having not been there, i would not wear pants
