Goin' down to South Park, Season 12 discussions (probably contains spoilers)

Yep, that's right, Season 12 starts this Wednesday evening! Tomorrow, the complete Imaginationland DVD goes on sale.

But the first episode of the new season is "Tonsil Trouble". Here is the brief synopsis from Comedy Central:

Quote:

Cartman’s routine tonsillectomy goes horribly wrong in an all-new episode of "South Park." Coming off record ratings in season 11 and the now infamous “Imaginationland” trilogy, “South Park” returns for its 12th season with seven all-new episodes beginning Wednesday, March 12 at 10:00 p.m. on COMEDY CENTRAL. Fans will be able to download the uncensored version of each new episode from the 12th season on iTunes, xBox LIVE and Amazon Unbox.

The face of South Park could change forever when Eric Cartman is diagnosed with an incurable disease in the premiere episode, entitled “Tonsil Trouble.” When the support Cartman is counting on falls short, he has to take matters into his own hands.

cant wait :)

Vince 03-10-2008 05:19 PM

Wow, South Park has really been around for 11 seasons already? That's freaking crazy.

Ironhead 03-10-2008 05:41 PM

In general I still enjoy watching South Park. More and more though the show seems to veer into absurd violence that makes me want to turn off my TV.

jeff061 03-10-2008 06:05 PM

I thought it was going downhill, but still good, for a few seasons. Last season was just excellent though, from start to finish.

Ksyrup 03-11-2008 06:40 AM

Fucking A! There's too much TV to watch. This shit is just going to start piling up on my DVR. I'm already several episodes behind on No Reservations, and there are 4 series starting this week I will be watching.

what 4 series?

I watched Scott Tenorman Must Die(best episode ever), and the Crips episode w/ Christopher Reeve(most cringe inducing episode ever) last night. I am officially prepared for new South Park.

Ksyrup 03-11-2008 08:43 AM

Look in the 2008 new shows/seasons thread. There's 3 in there, plus this one. Add in AI, Biggest Loser, No Reservations, a couple others, and then shows my wife watches - Lost, that Scott Baio show, and then Dancing with the Stars starts next week (that's ALL her, at least the Scott Baio show is somewhat entertaining and short)...I'm going to be completely booked. When baseball season starts, not sure what to do.

cartman 03-12-2008 09:13 PM

They've done some fucked up things on South Park, but what Cartman just did has to take the cake.

I am not just sure, I am HIV Positive

DeToxRox 03-12-2008 09:19 PM

Oh boy .. Magic Johnson ..

DeToxRox 03-12-2008 09:29 PM

LOL! Wow that part in Nigeria was phenominal.

cartman 03-12-2008 09:35 PM

The whole episode went off on a tangent I wasn't expecting. Solid, but not spectacular, start to the 12th season.

I really can't fathom anything they can do that will be more fucked up than how Christopher Reeve makes use of stem cells. This was a damn good effort though.

Ksyrup 03-13-2008 06:50 AM

That was great.

terpkristin 03-13-2008 07:06 AM

I must be getting "old" or something. I thought this episode was fairly "meh." Not terrible, but nothing great, either. There are some SP episodes where I just can't wait to see them on re-run, or I immediately buy them from the iTunes store or on DVD. With this episode, not even close...

I'm gonna agree. That was a terrible episode. There were only a few moments that were remotely funny and there was no real jolt. Must've been a slow week at the studio. The one funny thing was Cartman dressed as Tom Hank's character from Philadelphia but my girlfriend didn't get that joke (nor did my friend's girlfriend). I'm guessing the next episode will be better, but this wasn't a good one.

cartman 03-19-2008 06:32 PM

Here's the blurb about tonight's new episode:

Quote:

When the boys help Britney Spears get to the North Pole, they discover the shocking secret behind her popularity.

Britney Spears is trying to get away from it all in the mountains near South Park, Colorado when the boys have a run-in with her. Stan and Kyle get caught up in Britney’s celebrity and the never-ending feeding frenzy that follows her wherever she goes.

DeToxRox 03-19-2008 09:25 PM

Hahah, I loved that episode.

Comey 03-19-2008 09:30 PM

That was just.................................weird.

sabotai 03-19-2008 09:38 PM

It was just ok for the first 2/3rds of the episode, and then it was pure awesome.

cartman 03-19-2008 09:42 PM

I'm trying to figure out which movie they were using as the inspiration.

Some paparazzi must have really pissed them off at some point. :)

Wickerman I think.

ISiddiqui 03-19-2008 10:01 PM

Yeah, it really was a very Wicker Man like scene at the end there.

cartman 03-19-2008 10:03 PM

I thought Wickerman, but I guess I was thinking of another movie as well, with the Latin chanting and the "Nosferatu" look some of the paparazzi would give.

Daimyo 03-19-2008 10:25 PM

I don't think I laughed once during that episode...

Pyser 03-20-2008 01:57 AM

0/2 this season

Radii 03-20-2008 02:22 AM

possibly a new worst episode in south park history.

mrsimperless 03-20-2008 07:37 AM

Even if it wasn't the funniest episode ever these guys truly are masters at getting their message across. I enjoy their social commentary almost as much as I do their humor.

i agree with this- last night was a meh for comedy, not one that i'm going to watch a few times on DVR before deleting it- but still better than most the crap on tv.

cartman 03-24-2008 10:04 PM

Now every show is available in its uncensored entirety for free from hxxp://www.southparkstudios.com !!! I checked out a few of the episodes, and they didn't skimp on the encoding. The videos are decent size and very crisp and clear. No more having to go to bittorrent to get the latest episodes! This was done with the full blessings of all involved.

In addition, here is the brief on this Wednesday's episode:

Quote:

Kenny is skipping school and the other boys are sure it's because he's hooked on the latest drug craze that's popular with the junior high and under crowd. Meanwhile, Kyle's parents become concerned that their son is getting high when they find contraband in his room. To illustrate just how high you can go, "South Park" pays homage to the 1981 movie, "Heavy Metal."

DeToxRox 03-26-2008 09:14 PM

Oh man .. Diary of Anne Frank .. lol.

cartman 03-27-2008 08:54 AM

I missed the 9pm showing, but caught the 11pm. That was a pretty funny episode, with the scenes of Kenny and Kyle's dad "Tripping their f'n balls off", and Cartman turning into Schindler and the not even realizing the connection. :)

Bad-example 03-27-2008 10:42 AM

Oh man, they nailed the Heavy Metal stuff. A voice cameo by Harold Ramis would have been perfect. Nicely done, funny as hell.

The Heavy Metal bits were well spoofed. Hell, even Kenny's flying through space bit was pretty much an exact copy of the spaceship's flight in the So Beautiful, So Dangerous segment.

And yes, there are alot of titties with flower shaped nipples in the scenes.

And I agree, a Harold Ramis voiceover would have been awesome...

Here's the blurb about tonight's episode:

Quote:

Canadians want more money and decide to stage a strike in an all-new episode of "South Park," entitled, "Canada On Strike!," premiering on Wednesday, April 2 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on COMEDY CENTRAL.

The head of the World Canadian Bureau leads the country into a long and painful strike and the responsibility of brokering a settlement rests with the boys. Meanwhile, people from Denmark flock to the U.S. and cross the picket lines to take the place of the striking Canadians. In conflict over whether or not to stand with their countrymen, Terrance and Phillip uncover the truth behind the outrageous cost of the strike.

cartman 04-02-2008 09:14 PM

"I think I can make love to your anus now without offending God."
WGA=World Canadian Association
"Give us some of that Internet money!"

Great stuff so far. They are really slamming the writer's strike.

DeToxRox 04-02-2008 09:19 PM

LOL Butters song, lmao.

DeToxRox 04-02-2008 09:22 PM

The battle of YouTube stars is just phenominal.

That was awesome.

cartman 04-02-2008 09:31 PM

Man, they really tore into the writer's strike leaders. Great episode.

Greyroofoo 04-02-2008 09:33 PM

Am I the only one that thought the episode was no better than mediocre?

Doug5984 04-02-2008 09:45 PM

Loved it.... They really tore into the writers strike at the end there, can't wait until the clips make it up

I chuckled under my breath once or twice, but that was about it. I can't even say I agree with their message that the strike was a waste of time. Too bad they're not as over it as everyone else is.

stevew 04-03-2008 09:55 AM

I'll give them props for Tay Zonday and the Butters song was pretty funny. Otherwise the episode was pretty stupid.

stevew 04-03-2008 10:20 AM

dola,
Didn't realize the Butters song was just a remake of some other youtube clip. That takes it down a notch or two more.

stevew 04-04-2008 11:45 AM

I re-watched part of it on DVR, and BubbRubb is actually on screen for a half of second. If you blinked, you would have missed him. Nice touch.

Pyser 04-04-2008 12:21 PM

disappointing...and as probably the richest writers in internet history with their $75-mil internet deal last year, they were probably the last people who should have commented on the writers strike. not to mention animation writers arent even in the guild.

i didnt like it.

ISiddiqui 04-04-2008 12:28 PM

::shrug::

I thought the episode was great, ripping into the Writers Strike and youtube acts. The fact that Butters' song was a remake of a youtube clip makes it even funnier to me.
