Don't know if we have enough for a full complement of teams, although I'm hoping we do. I know there's around a half-dozen folks who have spoken up, so I thought I'd start a thread here, and we can see who's interested and what teams they want.

I went ahead and put myself down for the Dodgers because, well, I can. ;)

Folks who are interested can chime in with team claims and we'll see how well we fill up. Once we've got a league, we can figure out who'll serve as Commish and so forth.

As thread starter you're the Commish. It's the rules.

As to the first, it's my considered opinion I'd be a lousy commish.

What kind of season are you looking to put together, full 162 game schedule?

162 would be awesome, but since I don't think you can do a franchise mode online, I really don't see us getting a full league AND a 162 game schedule. We'd probably get folks abandoning teams like the Royals without making it all the way through.

I'm ok with the shortest schedule possible. Considering I rarely play a full 162 by myself, 162 with another person required certainly put a dent in things.

When will the games be played? If it is only a once or twice a week thing I will take the cubbies.

I would love it, but with my +6 hours time diference with USA and a 5 months old baby, i guess i would have problems to play the games. I think that unlike other sports games, you need to play the games in the schedule order, am i right? you can't play the games in the order you want, so if somebody can't play a game, will slow down the whole league.

My understanding is what happens is you play an entire series in one sitting. You and your opponent log on, and play your games. It really shouldn't be a "every single day thing," I wouldn't think.

I'm going to read up on how the leagues work tonight, and I'll post details probably tomorrow morning for folks on the fence. Guess we'll have to sort some of the logistics out a wee bit early.

I'm definitely interested depending on the frequency of play (summer is always brutal). Would love to give this a whirl with the Jays though.

Depending on how much time per week this would involve, I would be interested as well.

Okay. A few things that I noticed in reading the help files.

1) Obviously the number of games per season is customizable.
2) There's no divisional play. Just league play. So we'd have an American and a National League.
3) Games must be played in - depending on the settings - 1, 3, 5 or 7 days. I read that to mean the series as a whole. Now, granted, you'll have fewer games in a series if the season is 29 games than if it's 81 games. Point being, if you have a 2 game series to play, depending on what we decide on, you would have 1, 3, 5 or 7 days to complete that series.

I'm thinking 5 days would be the best marriage of convenience (for people who can't necessarily get their games in on a specific day or all at once) and speed (for people who wind up getting the short end of the stick competitively).

4) We can actually have up to 16 teams make the playoffs. Other options are 8, 4, or 2 (throwback to the pre-divisional play days).

BYU, ice4277, lemme know what you decide.

I say we do four playoff teams as I assume we'll get 16 guys tops in the league.

Five days is perfect.

And SA is one helluva commish!

5 days is definitely a nice option, now I might have to quit playing RTTS mode and figure out the full game ;)

Not to be a buzzkill, but in my experience, it is almost impossible to get people to actually play games in these leagues. Just my humble opinion, and I hope I'm wrong.

Well, since league size is also customizable, if we only end up getting 12-16 guys in, but they're 12-16 who are REALLY gung-ho about it...then we'll see!

I'm just saying that in the FML and the various tournaments that I ran, it was like pulling teeth just to get people to play their games. Everyone is gung ho until they actually have to play a game. Or until their team seems to be doing poorly.

And this is why people should stop beating the dead horse of H2H in OOTP. :D

Not sure how soon you need an answer by, but I emailed Blade (of the no number suffix) to let him know about this. He's getting back from holidays tomorrow and I think could have interest in this.

What are the settings for batting, pitching, fielding?

Those are things that will be decided once we have enough players that we're ready to set up the league.

I'm not comfortable making unilateral decisions, but neither do I want people who end up not joining the league influencing that.

I'll take the Blue Jays then.

Looks like Travis already grabbed them. I hadn't updated the list yet; have you another team in mind?

You have a good league plan, Sack, but I'm still on the fence on this one, just because I don't want to end up hosing the league if I have to pull out or can't play as much in a few weeks, which is a definite possibility.

Also, for those on the fence or who just haven't chimed in yet, realize that while I've listed teams by division, they don't actually have divisional play modeled. It's basically 1950s-style MLB, where you had one league and the mythical "first' and "second" divisions.

In other words, if you're wanting to play as an AL West team or you're worried about a division not filling up, don't be shy.

Since the Mets are gone too I'll take the Yankees I guess
