biggest draft bust ?

For years i was searching for an upgrade at RB and that year i traded up to 17 because there was a guy left i thought would finally give me that guy to give the ball, too. A "very underrated guy" with all combine scores in blue range other than strangth in black and great bars that seemed like a canīt miss guy and i thought only dropped because there were 4 even better RBs in the draft.
So i take him and canīt believe my luck seeing heīs rated 59/69 ! But then training camp comes and suddenly i have a 41/47 guy ... Even at that he was usefull with 570 yrds at a 3,99 clip as a backup.
But then the 2nd training camp comes and he comes out a 22/25.

I guess the game just decided to give me a straight-from-the-heart reminder that it has the power ;)

Is it just me or is the RB position incredibly difficult to draft/judge in the draft if you donīt happen to have a Top3 pick ?

RB is a tough one to judge, if your not able to get an obvious stud. Even if you get a guy who has good ratings and bars, you never know if he will be a fumbling machine - which is a bit daft really.

In WOOF, we just had a guy bust to 2/2 (no typo) after his 2nd training camp. Also, the #1 overall player took a -20 in his 1st camp.

I've had 2 younger rB's bust greater than 10 points the last two woof training camps. Takes a 40/45 useful guy and turns him into unemployed.

This is why I sort of shy away from first round RBs outside of the top 7 or so picks. A lot of times you can get more of a "sure thing" (albeit a 37/50) in rounds 2, 3 or even 4. If his bars are in the right places, a guy like that can have a lot of success.

Ask EF27 about the RB he just took 1(20)that had a monster dump. I would have probably taken him with the next pick as well. :(

Lucky for me, not so lucky for the good doctor.

Drafted a linebacker in a SP career - drafted him in the bottom half of the first round, and he initially looked reasonable value at that point (something around 35/65), but he had a major drop during his rookie training camp, and ended up maxing out at around 14/14...

He did stick around for 10 years, though, because I'm a sucker for a guy who has a special teams rating of 100 (and puts up 25+ special teams tackles every year).

Bo Jackson busted over at Golden Era. Of course, someone had sold the farm to get him. Good times. Turns out Alonzo Highsmith was the true gem.

Deacon Jones was taken 3rd in 1961 and busted to 23/23. He's on the unemployment line now.

I saw a bot pick a QB 1st overall who ended up at 8/23. He retired in his 3rd year having never won the starting job and never thrown a pass.

yaguar, do you post on the footballoutsiders comment threads?

It's been a while since I've mentioned it....

Ray Childress in the GeFL, top rated player in the combine and the draft overall. Took with the 1.3 pick. Came out as like a 64/89, busted after TC to a 46 (or so), and is now a 18/25.

cankles: I do indeed.
