Primary Entrance to your house?
We primarily use a side entrance to our house, and guests use that as well. But I have a feeling that may be a regional thing, so I was just curious as to what others may use.
|
We use the front door becasue we don't have a garage, I think most people who park their cars in the garage use that entrance
|
I guess I should have been a bit more specific, when people visit, which door do they use.

On the other hand, people in apartments probably all use the front (and possibly only) door. |
Why on earth do you want to know this?
|
Most of the time people come to my back porch, because it is a shorter walk than going around to the front door.

he's coming over to tickle you |
Oops. I voted before I read that last post.
I would change mine to the Front Door. The only other entrances to our house are through the garage or through the backdoor, which leads to a fenced in backyard. |
front door, if I open it for them.
no side door. we usually come in through the garage door. my mother in law comes through both front and garage and one day I hope to punch her in the face for it. |

Back door, baybee.
|
Mostly side door, but it depends on the visitor. The better they know us, the more likely they are to use the side door.
|
Front door. I have an older house, and the garage, side door or back doors are all far more inconvenient than the front door is for guests or even us when we come and go. The only time we use a different door is when it snows, we'll go out the garage so no one slips going down the outside stairs.
|
I'm the only person with just a front door?
|
I come in to my house through the garage, normally. Visitors are generally the same way. At least so far, anyway. The back door would be fine too, except it's been muddy and messy and it's easier to have them come through the garage because they don't track all that damn mud in the house.

do you live in an apartment? |
Quote:
No, a house. |

I find it odd that you live in a house with only 1 entrance. |
This poll is ridiculous. What about all the people who live in tents? I don't see a flap option anywhere.
|
Quote:
Yeah me too. But I thought more people would've had that too. |
This poll isn't even official.
|
People usually just come in my house.
Edit: I mean through the front door. Edit: I mean the back door. Edit: I mean there's only one door, and it's an apartment. |

Do you have a backyard? |

Edit I mean mow your pubes. |
Shit. I meant people usually just come in my HOUSE.

Yes. |

Do you have stairs? |
side door - it's the one that goes to our driveway (no garage). front door is just used by delivery people and jehova's witnesses.
|
Quote:
Thats odd, delivery people and jehova's witnesses enter your house through the front door? Usually I open the door for the delivery people and take the food or product and pay them, they don't enter. As for Jehova's witnesses, why the hell are they entering your house in the first place? |

so you need to go out your front door to get to your back yard? |

Just something my wife and I were talking about. Nobody uses the front door around here, it seems. She wanted to redo the walkway to the front, I was commenting on how it would be a waste of money cause nobody would use it anyways. Figured I would go to a unscientific poll option on FOFC. |

Stairs going down yes. |

Yes. |

Well hopefully this thread at least reminds St. Cronin that he needs to get around to fixing his side door. |
This thread reminds me, I need to get around to fixing my side door.

thats the silliest thing I ever heard! |
I have a front door and a door to the fenced in backyard. There is an entrance through the garage, but obviously most people can't get in that way, and the garage is messy anyway.

Yeah it's not great. |

They just go down. I've lost many friends that I still hear wailing down there, asking to come back up. |
I wonder if there used to be a door somewhere and the previous owners replaced it with a window or something.
|
LOL MikeVic you need to take a pic from your backyard pointing at the rear of your house, everyone's interest is piqued.
As for me, I just use a window, depending on what house I'm sleeping in, they are usually unlocked. I have lots of houses. The rest of the residents just don't know I'm a co-owner in spirit. |

We are the original owners. It was just designed stupidly. My dad bought it, and voila. House with no backyard door. I think every house on my block is like that. It does look dumb from the back.

I need a pic, I just can't wrap my brain around the stupidity of this. |
If it helps, there was no garage. And when my dad built the garage, he made it free-standing. No connection to the house. The neighbourhood is all the same.

I actually don't have much problem understanding Mikevic's house layout. It sounds pretty similar to how most houses in my neighborhood are built. All of the houses here were built in the 1950s and all are pretty similar in style. Basically the original design of this house looks like it had a front door, and a garage and that is it. All of the rooms on the back of the house were the three bedrooms, none of which had a back yard. Somewhere before I bought this house (1970s or 1980s I guess), someone added a sunroom on one side of the house and a larger living room to the other side of the house, both of which come with sliding glass doors going to the back yard now. If those additions hadn't been done, my house would have had no back door either, and I gurantuee there are probably at least 10 houses in my neighborhood like that. |

But they don't go up? Too bad you don't live in an apartment. I've always wanted stairs in an apartment. |

I am putting stairs in my condo, I already have an idea of how it will look. ![]() I can't wait, this way I can overlook the entire condo. |
I like the racing stripe.

Has anyone ever taken out a window cut out and installed french doors? Or is that a "pay the man" type of thing? I have a large picture window in our sunroom addition, but no in house exit to the back deck. The deck is pretty sweet in size, but it's a pain cause you have to walk around the side of the house to make use of it. Anyways, removing the window and cutting out the underneath of it to install a door to the deck is on the agenda this summer. But I'm not totally sure it's a DIY type thing.
