Washed my iPod

It was in my pants.

The warranty reads it doesn't cover water damage, but how exactly would they know it was that type of damage, couldn't I just say that it just stopped working?

And yes, I realize I am an idiot.

Is it clean now at least?

Pyser 04-14-2008 07:59 PM

i washed my cell phone once. let it dry out for a few days and it was fine again

not sure it will work with an ipod, but may as well try it and hope

then buy another cuz you know you cant live without one

There is a sensor in them that turns a particular color when it comes in contact with water.

I've been out cycling in the florida downpour with mine before and had it pack up from getting water logged ... after it dried out for a few days it always recovered hopefully yours will also.

korme 04-14-2008 08:59 PM

Ok. I will obviously wait and see.

The only thing that worries me is I still didn't even notice after a thorough wash, and only until I heard something clanging in the dryer after about 10 minutes did I go "oh shi".

Flasch186 04-14-2008 09:03 PM

just dry it out completely before turning it on....

lordscarlet 04-14-2008 09:37 PM

I poured a full glass of water in my macbook. :(

A couple months ago, my iPod fell in the toilet. I had the AppleCare extended warranty, and I didn't get a hassle about it. Just filled out a form on the website, got a box to send my old iPod back in a day and a half later, and had a new iPod by the end of the week.

Put it in the oven at 200 degrees for an hour. That will help it dry faster. I did this with a gameboy my son played with in the bathtub (no batteries) and it worked fine.

I found this out the hard way when my cell phone and I went swimming in Vegas last year. Under the battery, there is a small disc monted there that turns from white to dark pink when it gets wet. It is the first thing that sales folks are instructed to look at when getting an electronic gadget returned for breaking down.

But leave the door open to the oven too FYI

I washed my iPod once and it worked fine once I let it dry out for a few days. Battery life seems to have diminished, but it works.

Is it the traditional white, or did you end up getting one of the blacks?

MikeVic 04-15-2008 03:35 PM

So after a few days of half-heartedly pressing the power button hoping it'd turn on after countless days to dry and the "oven trick" to no avail, a lightbulb kicked on today. "What if it is just dead?" Well, yeah, it was. As soon as I plugged it into the charger it started charging and is working. I don't know if the battery is hurt, because it's still sitting on the charger but atleast I don't have to go buy a new one.

THANKS FOR EVERYONE'S REPLY

Got it dirty on a hot summer night,
wash my iPod, wash my iPod,
was no towels or cleaner in sight,
wash my iPod, wash my iPod,
put it in gently, put in my cash
the button labeled hot I managed to mash
now my music player has quit playing trash!
wash my iPod, wash my iPod,
W-A-R-S-H my iPod

My old girlfriend blew up an ipod nano by putting it her sports bra and jogging.

She didn't tell them that boobie-sweat was the culprit in its demise, but got a new one! :)

The iPod/MP3 may be the best innovation since the PC.

I don't know how I went so long without one. But without a car hookup, I don't know how much play it'd get... though when I move I'm buying a Bose/iPod to be my main soundsystem.
