Wireless Router Question/Troubleshooting
I have a Netgear WR for several years now. Recently, I've noticed that the green Wireless signal doesn't stay on permanently. I've never really paid attention to it much before, but I've noticed that pages are timing out and last night when I was playing poker, it kept happening, causing me to auto-fold several hands (including quad Kings at one point :( ).
I've had the router for several years now, and I'm not sure if it's just time to go get a new one. I've changed out the cable that attaches the router to the cable modem, but that didn't solve the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |
Yes it sounds to me as if the router is going bad. It could be, however, that something is interfering with the actual signal. Has the position/location of the access point changed to where it might be interfered with?
This may not help solve the problem but if you feel comfortable doing so try a firmware updgrade. Go to Netgear's website and follow the instructions. Make absolutely sure that the update file is for the exact model router that you have. Bad things can happen if you don't. |
