FOFC Sex Symbol Draft - picks thread
Let the games begin! The rules are discussed in the previous thread, FOFC Sex Symbol Draft.
Please make your picks by copying the below list and placing your selection next to the appropriate category. Bold your current selection and keep your selections through each round. I will also try to keep this thread up to date with current selections. 1. Celebrity Singer 2. Celebrity Actor 3. Celebrity No-Talent 4. Celebrity Athlete 5. Appeals to Younger Men 5. Appeals to Younger Women 7. Appeals to Older Men 8. Appeals to Older Women 9. Fictional (Literary) 10. Fictional (Theatrical) Label your selection like so: Celebrity no-talent, 1.1, jb magic The selection order for the first round, determined by random.org, will be: PurdueBrad Radii lordscarlet wade moore Surtt Lathum Mustang bsak16 CU Tiger/KWhit Izulde This is a serpentine draft, so in the second round (and all even rounds) Scoobz will pick first, CU Tiger second, etc. Notes: No sex symbol may be selected twice. One way this might work is, picking Bart Simpson in the theatrical category would make Nancy Cartwright (the voice of Bart) ineligible. I will make the final decision on whether a pick is valid or not. After you make your pick, please pm the next person on the list to remind them that they are up. I have lists from most participants, but I will give them a chance to make their own pick, unless they specifically tell me they won't be around. With that, PurdueBrad is up! |
PurdueBrad's pick:
1. Celebrity Singer 2. Celebrity Actor 3. Celebrity No-Talent 4. Celebrity Athlete 5. Appeals to Younger Men 5. Appeals to Younger Women, 1.1, Shia LeBouf 7. Appeals to Older Men 8. Appeals to Older Women 9. Fictional (Literary) 10. Fictional (Theatrical) Radii is now up. |
let the second guessings begin!
|
Wow.
|
Shia LeBouf is the FIRST PICK OVERALL in the "FOFC Sex Symbol Draft"?
This is a dark, dark day for this board... I feel ashamed for each of my 9,007 posts to date. |
______ ______ was halfway to the stage before the pick was announced and she wasn't it.
|
He should turn in his man card now.
|
Makes my Danny Heatly pick look pretty good.
|
I thought that category would have been relatively easy to fill (depending on what "Younger Women" meant) without needing a top pick (that seems iffy anyways). Seems like a bit of a reach here.
|
I have Radii's pick:
1. Celebrity Singer 2. Celebrity Actor, 1.2, Marilyn Monroe 3. Celebrity No-Talent 4. Celebrity Athlete 5. Appeals to Younger Men 5. Appeals to Younger Women 7. Appeals to Older Men 8. Appeals to Older Women 9. Fictional (Literary) 10. Fictional (Theatrical) Lordscarlet is up! |
Not the catergory I would have used her in but just having her in your stable is huge
|
I figured Marilyn would be 1.1 - nice grab for Radii.
|
Note: I have a pretty busy morning, but will be around this evening.
|
The #2 pick is pretty solid. You knew she would go early.

I'm not sure where else you would put her unless you try to be overly clever. |

Great use of that word. :D |

Classic! :D |
One other note: If my inbox here fills up, please use my gmail account. Same username at gmail.
|
Monroe was who I figured would be walking up to the stage adjusting her PurdueBrad cap when LaBouf's name was called.
|
I am very uncertain of this pick, particularly since I'm not up again until 2.7, but...

Well, this draft has completely gone in a direction I didn't expect.
|
Good pick for that category, but probably too high overall.

When my brother in law was a kid, they had their first Thanksgiving after Jedi came out, and they were all going around the table saying what they were thankful for that year, and, in complete kid innocence, he said, "I am thankful that I got to see Princess Leia's boobies."

That's what I'm afraid of. We'll see how the category (and in particular, the other categories) plays out. |
I'm here. Dealing with a couple of work things then I'll make a pick.
|
Yeesh, first pick?
|
Quote:
Yeah, I hear you BUT my students have sworn to me that this is a very solid pick considering a lack of depth in that category. In fact, they had trouble coming up with more than three decent selections for the category. And yeah, as for me, a HUGE Marilyn Monroe fan, it hurt not to select her. |
Oh, and it really hurt picking a freakin' guy first too.

I'm sure you'll have to go back to the drawing board now that LaBeouf is no longer available. |
1. Celebrity Singer 2. Celebrity Actor 3. Celebrity No-Talent, 1.4, Venus de Milo 4. Celebrity Athlete 5. Appeals to Younger Men 6. Appeals to Younger Women 7. Appeals to Older Men 8. Appeals to Older Women 9. Fictional (Literary) 10. Fictional (Theatrical), 1.3, Princess Leia Organa Considered by many to be the classic beauty. This may be a stretch of a pick, but if you are talking about all-time sex-symbols I'm not sure if there is anyone higher in the rankings. |
Yeah I don't know, I guess everyone I'm thinking of could be considered appealing to older women rather than younger.

The naming of that category has some serious issues. :) |
OK, let's hear it...who went 4 for 4 on their mock draft lists? Did anybody get more than 1 of the top 4 right?
|

Maybe I'm missing how this game is played. At the end of the draft, don't people here at FOFC vote on the winner based upon their opinions of the selections made? If my understanding of the rules is correct, I contend that the FOFC voters wouldn't give a shit if you have Shia LeBouf or Larry the Cable Guy for that category. |

Are you crazy? The bitch has no arms!!! And I hear she's cold and stiff in bed and does nothing but lay there. |
I asked if anybody thought 1.1 was a bad pick, and even 1.4 raised her hand.

BUT...she doesn't talk!!! |

;). I was definitely free in my definition of "sex-symbol". It all depends on how the voters define the term. If they define it as "viewed as a sex-symbol" vs. "I'd like to bone them" I'm in good shape. Sadly for me, I think there's a good chance they go for the latter. I likely over-thought this one. |

Yeah. It seems to me that we should have been required to pick more guys, actually. It's always good to make it as hard as possible on the drafters. :) |
1. Celebrity Singer
2. Celebrity Actor 3. Celebrity No-Talent 4. Celebrity Athlete - 1.5 Anna Kournikova 5. Appeals to Younger Men 5. Appeals to Younger Women 7. Appeals to Older Men 8. Appeals to Older Women 9. Fictional (Literary) 10. Fictional (Theatrical) |
I think this is the draft with the least "obvious" early picks ever.
It's also the most free draft I remember, which I'm actually not a huge fan of - but it should be interesting. |
Anna K would have been a great choice for the 'No Talent' category

weird, I didn't know PB's class was voting. |
Nice one Lathum.. that was going to be my pick.
|
Great pick. However, I don't know how it will play with the voters. I definitely considered it.
