You want how much???
rant
The battery in my dell went out after 13 months (no warranty anymore- yay). I hardly ever use it on battery power so it is strange it went out so quickly... Anywho I went to order a new one- and it is $155!!!! Jesus Christ that is a lot of money for a battery, and to make it worse it shows 50 reviews all saying their batteries die right after a year. Now not sure if I want to fork out that kind of money for maybe a year and a half! :banghead: /rant |
you should be able to get a non dell-branded battery for much cheaper
|
My monitor died a month after it was out of warranty.

Check out ebay, I've bought a couple of laptop power cords there significantly cheaper than it would have been buying direct from Dell. I've seen oodles of listings for batteries, you should be able to find one for about half that depending on the model you have.

To ebay!

If ebay doesnt work out, try this place:
http://www.usbphoneworld.com/delaba.html They're comparatively cheap and get the stuff dispatched quick. |
Laptop batteries, by nature, (NiCad and NiMH) should be routinely charged and discharged. It is recommended that you let a laptop run on batteries until it discharges, and then when the bat is low, plug in the mains cord and charge it to full while it is off.
Keeping the laptop always plugged on mains power overcharges the battery and severely shortens battery life. |
Batteries in laptops are like ink in printers.. that's where they make all of their money back from discounting their products.

Power cords are one thing, but a buying a second hand battery from someone you do not know is something completely different. |
Apple replaced mine, no questions asked. :)
