Name My Baby
Since we found out about 2 weeks ago that we have another baby coming (or more..yikes ), I am in need of ideas for a name (s). The due date is sometime in January 2009, so we have no idea yet what the sex is or how many. Triplets run in my wife's family and nobody in our generation has yet even had twins, so she is worried that this could be the time.
So without further ado, I am curious as to what types of names you all can come up with. This was actually mentioned by Oliegirl so I should give her at least partial credit. Also, I don't want to ruin anyone's parade, but let's try and keep it civil (i.e. no names regarding race, sex, gender, orientation, and no swear words). Have fun, perhaps I will like a suggestion and run it past my wife. Roma |
Girls: Candy, Apple
Boys: Jack, John Boy/Girl: Henry, Gale - I got nothing. |
If we have a son I want to name him Irving.
My wife says no |
According to SSA, the most popular names in your state in 2007 were:
Girl: Emma, Emily, Olivia, Hannah, Abigail Boy: Jacob, Ethan, Logan, Isaac, Michael Other than that, I can't really think of any right now. |
If our youngest son had been a girl, she'd have been named Aspen.
For boys, we went with traditional names so as not to give people at school an easy way to make fun of them. Marc and John are their names. |
|
My eventual son will be named Logan.

You could always pick out all girl names and get a sex change if you have a boy.
"Well, you used to be a boy but since we picked out a kickass girl name we didn't want to lose it." |
What are the names of your current children, if you don't mind me asking?

Tiger

Girl: Kathy Griffin
Boy: Carrot Top |
Butter O'Sixty-Nine

Don't you have the genders swapped? |
I like Veronica as a girl's name.

I like the two first names! |
Dean
Dean Houston. he'll be a champion straight out of the womb. |
HA wins the thread!

Boy: Roma Jr.
Girl: Roma Jr. Seems pretty obvious to me. |
Going with a Roman theme:
Boy - Biggus Dickus Girl - Incontinentia Buttocks |
Girls: Samantha, Victoria, Veronica, Penelope, Raimi, Rhonda, Francesca
Boys: Logan, Kollin, Vincent, Thaddeus, Zander, Ulric, Ayden, Anders need more? |

If I had a prize I would give it you as this is the first "Pumpy" suggestion. |

Funny you mention Zander. We discussed that one but I don't think my wife is really into it. I like Alexander and Xander for short, but most people would probably still call him Alex. :banghead: |

Son is Jacob, middle daughter is Lucy, youngest daughter is Molly. |

You want his child to grow up knowing what its like to feel pain, don't you? :) |
I love the name Riley for a boy, we have a dog named Riley though so we won't be naming our kids that, so you can have it :) I also like the name Channing for a boy.
For a girl, I love Emily Elizabeth, Hannah Jane, Schuyler, Gracie, and Amelia. |
There are a few names over my life that I have liked for children's names.. I should really write them down, because I never remember them. :( Since I don't know if I will have children I'm not too concerned yet, though.

Jacob is our front runner for a boy name if/when we have a son...middle name will be Joseph after my father :) |

One of my good friends has a son with that name. His fiance's family dog has the same name. (Riley, although I believe he spells it differently?) |
One of these days, I want to get a list of Muslim names, and a list of Jewish names, plop them in Access, and run a query to see what's in both. We're not close to having kids yet, but it was so dorky that I wanted to do it just for fun. I tried it a while back, but I need to get bigger lists -- this query only gave me two names, and they were both pretty bad.

If I were to make a list of the ten worst people I have ever known, there would be 2 Rileys.
|
Lorena, where did you get that list from? Some of those names I've NEVER heard of -- my last name is also up there, and I've never seen that as a first name before, and my first name, which I thought was somewhat common (Aaron), isn't on the list! And are those numbers in the thousands or something?
|
Looks like Payton and Taylor are the only two to make both the male and female list. A co-worker's wife just had a baby girl recently named Payton (it might have been Peyton, I'm not sure). The admin emailed an announcement that didn't give the gender of the baby, and misspelled the name as Patton. That would have been a much cooler name.

He would inevitably be called JJ. |
I work in customer service, take calls from all over the country...whenever I get a customer with a name that I like, I write it down on a little sticky not that is on my desk :)

The list I gave RomaGoth was for his state; but there's a whole database of names at http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/ |

I knew a girl who named her daughter Reilly or Riley, not sure how it was spelled. |

What's his state? I was looking at that site, and nationally, my first name was on the list, but my last name wasn't. Weird. |
I'm partial to these names:
Jedikooter Obi-Wan Kenobi Chewbacca |
Samantha
Matthew Those are my kids names, for $50 I'll let you use one. Ok fine, $20. |

We thought of that. We are planning on Jake for "every day", but are fine with JJ. My son is Anthony Chase...everyone tried to call him Tony when he was born, but it never stuck. Now if you try to call him Tony, he'll correct you. I would be fine if people wanted to call him AC, he likes that, but he's just an Anthony through and through... |
