Wireless Router

I'm looking to upgrade my wireless router (currently b) to Wirless-N. However, my current wireless card is a/b/g and my wife's is just b. Will there be any issues with a wireless N router? Will I see a speed upgrade? Should I also look to upgrade the cards? My wife's is external while mine is internal if it matters.

Thanks.

I would upgrade the cards, I know in the b/g world that if you had a B device connect the fastest connection all your G devices could have was at the B rates. I think it works the same for the N stuff.

DOLA.

Here is the big question, why are you thinking about upgrading to N? What do you use your wireless network for?

Dan,

Right now the wireless network is just for typical internet sharing. Not much video, but I've always wanted the best technical to be future-proofed. I've noticed our current signals are relatively weak especially with a large home. Do you think it is a "waste" for that purpose?

N is supposed to work better because of it's multiple streams it has, but it's still not in it's official state, all the routers out there are "Pre N" and there is not going to be an official N standard till Nov. 2008. Doesn't mean you shouldn't get it, but prices may very well go down once there is an official standard. Plus if you have different manufacturers for the router and your wireless cards they might not be fully compatible due to manufacturers difference in philosophies on what Pre N is.

At least that's my opinion...

OK, so what would be a good wireless router to get right now for connecting to my laptop, printer, and Wii?
