Steamers

Clothes steamers, you perverts.

Anyone use them? Good, bad? Any brands you recommend or where to get them? I hate ironing and was told these work very well instead.

They work well but they're just as much of a pain in the ass as ironing.

MikeVic 07-11-2008 02:08 PM

Aww why are they as crappy as irons? Can't I just hang up a shirt or pants and steam them, and voila it's done? With ironing, I always end up re-wrinkling the side I'm not on.

sachmo71 07-11-2008 02:16 PM

back in the old days, we thought the future was steamers. technology soon passed us by.

kserra 07-11-2008 02:37 PM

I've got both, and to be honest, both suck. I end up throwing my shirt in the dryer (after getting it slightly wet)...10 minutes, put on a suit coat, and voila, you get the frumpy middle-class guy in his thirties look... chicks dig it...

MikeVic 07-11-2008 02:39 PM

Why do steamers suck? Don't you just hang a shirt or pants and wave over it with the steam, and it's done?

Dr. Sak 07-11-2008 02:43 PM

Cleveland Steamers?

Actually, I used a clothes steamer to help get the wall paper of the walls at my house.

Passacaglia 07-11-2008 02:50 PM

I actually thought this was about steamed milk with a flavor shot.

Definitely calls for a "That's what she said!"

Bonegavel 07-11-2008 03:58 PM

The other day during a Stanley Steamer commercial I added Cleveland Steamer in there to which the wife gave me the "huh?" look. After I explained it she looked at me like I had just violated a puppy dog sans lube.

She can't understand how people could be into that... to which I explained 2 girls 1 cup...

Still going to take you a couple minutes usually.

Logan 07-11-2008 04:52 PM

Mine takes like 5 minutes to heat up and you need to wave it over a shirt for at least a couple minutes. I don't know if mine sucks or if I'm just doing something wrong, but it sometimes ends up getting water spots on the shirt, which is a problem.

I never clothes steam my perverts. They're usually already too hot and bothered.

gottimd 07-11-2008 07:57 PM

I dont understand, you give Cleveland Steamers to clothed perverts?

MikeVic 07-11-2008 08:05 PM

Dammit, typo.

Hmm, that sucks. I guess I can try one out and return it if it sucks.

Fidatelo 07-12-2008 11:23 AM

This is where wives come in handy. My wife can somehow iron a shirt in like 45 seconds, whereas that same shirt would take me 10 minutes and I'd have one or two massive creases ironed into it. I don't understand her ironing voodoo, but it is certainly powerful.

CamEdwards 07-12-2008 11:50 AM

I was hoping this thread would be about steamed clams and melted butter. Instead I get pooped-on chests and talk of clothes pressing. :(

And people laugh when I tell them I'm an inventor.
