FOFC Buffalo-Area Get Together

I know we have a few Buffalo-area members, including a newly re-located one with Marco. Would anyone be up for a FOFC get together in October or so?

Apathetic Lurker 09-15-2008 10:34 AM

maybe..depends if my doctor will let me go out ...oh yeah, the wifey too.

RendeR 09-15-2008 10:37 AM

Sounds good to me, I'm sure Telle and I could work something out. We're celebrating our 5th anniversary over columbus day weekend so we'll be free to meet up one of those night (leaving the kids in their grandparents capable, if extremely spoiling care)

Keep us informed!

I figured if we would do it, we could do it before the winter starts to really hit. Also, I'm hoping a job comes through out-of-state.

MacroGuru 09-15-2008 12:58 PM

Definitely up for it!

Mrs. MacroGuru might be as well, just can talk sports with the rest of us...she just doesn't speak sports geek all to well though :D

RendeR 09-15-2008 01:35 PM

Sounds like we can certainly get something together. Chubby and his fiancee came up last spring aqnd we took in a Sabres game and had Dinner before at Friday's and drinks after at Pearl Street afterward.

We could all meet at one spot for dinner then perhaps head down to chippawa for some drinks and music?

don't know what al else is going on locally, I'm a terrible hermit.

I am too, because I do not know a lot of people up here except for my 2 business partners.

My wife went and picked up a part time job just so she could meet people, she has more friends than I do up here! LOL!

Anyways I work downtown, in fact I am staring at them tear up main street right now.

Anytime anyone wants to meet up for food, drinks, Sabres and Bills games and what not...I am more than willing to meet.

Apathetic Lurker 09-15-2008 01:58 PM

what sucks for me is I know if I go out I will want to drink and eat junk food. Sort of defeats the purpose of that little ole' quad bypass they did a few weeks ago.

It's not tough to make friends here. The people are usually pretty friendly around here.

I know your a Lions fan, and I'm not sure on your love for hockey, but are you going to become a Bills/Sabres fan? Your kids would have a blast at a Sabres game.

Actually we are slowly converting to becoming Bills fans. I have a contact that has gotten me tickets to the Bills games. We were there opening day, 7 rows up behind the Seahawks bench. We were yelling at Hasselbeck causing total chaos.

As for Hockey, we dig it a lot and are excited to have the Sabres, our Investors gave us their tickets for a game last season...In fact one of our investors is Jerry Jacobs but we still told him we couldn't root for a team from Boston!

For me and friends it rolls more along the lines of...I work from 6 am to 6 pm M - F (2 hours in the morning from home, the 30 minute commute, then work till 5, with a 45 minute commute)

When I get home it's immediately cook dinner, followed by helping the kids with homework. So my free time are the weekends and with it being football season, I become a hermit watching games.

But the people I have met at the Bills games and Darien Lake have been pretty cool

Just wait until Bills game in the cold, snowy winters. Is your wife making friends easy?

Yup...she teases me about how easy it is....

Chubby 09-15-2008 10:02 PM

We would def be in again.

Galaxy 09-19-2008 01:16 PM

So, does anyone have any exact dates and location (do you all live the 'burbs or city?) in mind?

Telle 09-19-2008 01:25 PM

RendeR and I are in Cheektowaga. We can go pretty much anywhere though.

Chubby 09-19-2008 05:01 PM

Are we thinking weekend or weekday? A sunday all meeting out and watching the bills game somewhere could work I'd think, any other ideas?

MacroGuru 09-19-2008 06:39 PM

We are in East Amherst and are willing to drive anywhere....a Bills away game somewhere would be cool..

Galaxy 10-10-2008 03:55 PM

Wanted to bump this,

Would anyone be up for a "Sabres Night" get together? Weekend or week night preferred?

Chubby 10-10-2008 04:18 PM

Sabres night would be good too. Weekend night would work better but it's not a dealbreaker for us

I'm just not sure what everyone's situation is. I know Marco has a pretty busy life with business, the wife, and kids. I think RendeR/Telle have the same deal. Hopefully Macro can bring the Mrs. out as well. The more, the merrier.

Yeah exactly. We are pretty flexible since we're retail and both the girlfriend and I write our own schedules (we both work for Delta Sonic). As long as we know a day like a week in advance we can schedule for it.

MacroGuru 10-11-2008 06:20 AM

Hey we are always game for a night out...pick the night, we will clear it...it's better to set it now for me....That way I can make sure the Mrs. can make it. (She is a co manager at Express at Eastern Hills)

Galaxy 10-11-2008 10:31 AM

Just to copy the Sabres Schedule over the rest of the month:

Tue Oct 21, 2008 Bruins Sabres 7:00 PM VERSUS (HD),RIS,TSN2
Thu Oct 23, 2008 Sabres Wild 8:00 PM MSG-B
Mon Oct 27, 2008 Senators Sabres 7:00 PM MSG-B (HD) Tickets

Will you be breaking out the new wardrobe for this? :)

LOL! I doubt it...she might with hers cause every day for her is new wardrobe day.

Galaxy 10-11-2008 08:58 PM

I can pretty much do any day (would that Thursday game on the 23rd work?).

I figured the 8 o'clock start would allow you and the others some time to get home from work, do what you got to do, without having to feel rushed. Hockey games move pretty quickly (should be over around 10-10:30ish, I'm guessing).

RendeR 10-12-2008 12:10 AM

We can probably make this as well. I need to take a day off but hey, that's what vacation days are for =)

Are we meeting for the game itself or finding someplace where we can all sit, talk, eat, drink and be merry?

RendeR 10-12-2008 12:14 AM

Ok, so the Wild game on the 23rd is an away game so I'm assuming we're meeting somewhere to watch =)

this should teach me to research my answers before I post =)

That's what I was thinking about, if it that is good with everyone.

Galaxy 10-12-2008 06:45 PM

Any suggestions on where to meet up?

We live in the East Amherst / Clarence area but are willing to drive anywhere for the meet.

We have a little bar on the corner of North French and Miller sport, they have a few big screen TVs in there, plus all mixed drinks are doubles and anything on tap is the large glass (I think it's close to 32 oz) and it's damn cheap.

MacroGuru 10-12-2008 09:34 PM

Its the Amherst Pizza and Ale House, it's in Crosspoint Parkway.

Doesn't sound too bad. Is it easy to get to if I take the 290 and get on Millersport?

If RendeR and the rest like the idea, it sounds like a date.

Yeah, you get off the 290, head north on Millersport and it's on your left when you hit North French.

Galaxy 10-12-2008 10:24 PM

Sounds good. If the others can do it and they like it, I'm in.

Off topic, I can see why some of the clothes at Express might not appeal to some guys (went into the store today in Rochester-haven't gone in that place in quite a few years, it isn't cheap). Not much of a selection, but they're sort of all over the place in their style.

Chubby 10-13-2008 11:14 AM

That works for us I think. I have to pull an overnight on the 24th so I don't have to worry about the drive and then getting up at 5:15 to open the store the next day!

Sounds good. Looks like I'm going to be the lone single guy at this thing. :)

Maybe I'll just call in sick that day.

I'm looking forward to the Sabres this year, judging from the first two games so far. Look forward to watching tonight.

Yeah tonight @ the Rangers will be a good test to see if they're really up to maintaining this level of play.

MacroGuru 10-15-2008 01:48 PM

Definitely going to be interesting to see how they play short at center.
