Well yeah that is stupid too, but removing them was plain dumb. "Hey let's punish everyone, instead of solving the problem".

What was the solution, if it wasn't removing the post count info?

I'm actually glad that post counts aren't displayed anymore. I think it encourages more people to post, because they're less intimidated to do so (for whatever psychological reason). There seems to be a lot of posters around that I haven't seen before, and I think that's great.
