NFL Week 5

terpkristin 10-05-2008 12:08 PM

Dola,
My first week actually getting to catch any of these games in the new house with the HD. Watching Redskins - Eagles right now, the Eagles (very early in so far) really look better than I expected. Westbrook looks like his ankle's doing alright.

/tk

Eaglesfan27 10-05-2008 12:13 PM

Westbrook is so much fun to watch.

GrantDawg 10-05-2008 12:15 PM

Falcons take the opening drive and march down the field. Roddy White just carves the GB secondary up. Then they go for it on 4 on G at the half mark. Smith makes a huge gutsy call on a roll out pass that pays off. 7-0 Falcons.

Intersting stat btw: The Falcons have 42 first quarter points. The most in the NFL. Didn't think they'd lead anything in the NFL at this point of this season except points allowed. :)

wade moore 10-05-2008 12:18 PM

I;ve been burned SO much by Mcgahee..

Finally didn't start him this week when things were completely uncertain and it looked like he might not even play, but now he's getting carries.. just the opposite of what happened in week 1.

terpkristin 10-05-2008 12:21 PM

Well that was kind of embarrassing for the 'Skins...

/tk

wade moore 10-05-2008 12:22 PM

That was one of the most embarrasing blown calls I've ever seen.

50 for the eagles blocks 50 of the skins in the back.

They call the flag.

Then they conference and say that 50 of the skins was the guy that blocked in the black. In the replay 50 of the skins is on his knees and gets plowed square in the back by 50 of the eagles.

wow.

Rizon 10-05-2008 12:23 PM

lmao ... Miami still using the Wildcat Formation ...

Izulde 10-05-2008 12:23 PM

Beautiful PR by Jackson, even if that gets my opponent a slew of points in fantasy.

Beautiful outside of the, you know, illegal blocking.

Eaglesfan27 10-05-2008 12:25 PM

That was a bad call. Still, DeSean is so exciting to watch even with his boneheaded plays mixed in.

GrantDawg 10-05-2008 12:28 PM

Falcons stop the Packers with a 3 and out, then move the ball well on the ground. Norwood drops a 3rd down conversion, so they settle for a FG. 10-0 Falcons.

henry296 10-05-2008 12:33 PM

I was able to double dip on the Jackson punt return, Eagles DEF plus Jackson.

Rizon 10-05-2008 12:36 PM

Ronnie Brown ... please have my babies.

larrymcg421 10-05-2008 12:40 PM

Hey Chargers! Our RB is better than yours.

Izulde 10-05-2008 12:41 PM

What'd Ronnie do?

MrBug708 10-05-2008 12:43 PM

To the skin fans around, how has Chris Horton been? I saw he was named ROTM for the defensive side of the ball. What's the impression of him from the fans?

Great speed, great instincts, needs to learn the game. He's made some very athletic plays and has a nose for the ball, but has blown some coverage here and there. Keep in mind he only has two starts.

GrantDawg 10-05-2008 12:47 PM

Donald Driver makes a great catch between two DB's deep for a TD. Driver is hurt after the catch, though.

Nothing major. He's just having a really good game so far with some big gains. 38 yards on 6 carries.

The Dolphins defense is playing really well. Not looking like the same team that Kurt Warner carved up.

That was an incredible throw by Rodgers.

Eaglesfan27 10-05-2008 12:50 PM

I can't remember the last time I saw a QB take a knee on a play when not trying to run out the clock like Campbell just did.

larrymcg421 10-05-2008 12:52 PM

I don't have the sound on. What is Scifres bitching about?

I can understand why he did it thought.

GrantDawg 10-05-2008 01:03 PM

The Falcons respond. A solid drive, with a very important third and long conversion, ends with a Roddy White TD.

What is amazing to me is what the Falcons are doing with Ryan. They are going no huddle, on the road, and he is calling the plays at the line. This guy is a rookie!

larrymcg421 10-05-2008 01:03 PM

Pennington to Camarillo! Dolphis up 10-3.

Pennington is 9-10 for 98 yards and 1 TD so far. Ronnie Brown with a big run on 4th down to set up the TD and has 41 yards on 7 carries.

Icy 10-05-2008 01:12 PM

For first time in a few years i'm really enjoying watching the Dolphins today as i did past week. The Wildcat formation is working today too, even when the surprising factor is gone.

Camarillo looks to be the next Wes Welker like posession receiver, hope he won't be traded as Welker did.

Rizon 10-05-2008 01:20 PM

TD Ronnie Brown off Wildcat Formation ... !!!!

Rizon 10-05-2008 01:20 PM

WHO ARE THESE DOLPHINS?????

Icy 10-05-2008 01:21 PM

Another wildcat formation and another TD by the Dolphins! 3-17 already!

larrymcg421 10-05-2008 01:23 PM

Ricky Williams with a nice block to spring Ronnie free on that one.

Heh. I fixed that.

Now I'm picturing Ronnie flinging one of the defenders in the air like in Super Tecmo Bowl.

Thomkal 10-05-2008 01:31 PM

well if you fantasy owners have RB Deangelo Williams active today you are a very happy owner. He's scored all three TD's for the Panthers against an awful looking Chiefs team

I came aboutthisclose to picking up him from the FA pool in one of my leagues about 10 minutes before kick off.

Naturally I didn't :(

edit to add: I got curious, so I went & checked. Between my two teams & my son's two teams, he's an FA in two leagues & inactive today in the other two.

guy's the real deal. as a bc-alum i'm loving that he's really showing the hater's who's boss

larrymcg421 10-05-2008 01:40 PM

Ryan made a really nice play earlier in the game. He was being c hased out of the pocker and sort of flung the ball out of bounds. I think alot of rookies would have either gone out of bounds or made an ill-advised throw on that play.

Arles 10-05-2008 01:45 PM

Green Bay may have the worst offensive line in football. 3rd and long and Atlanta rushes essentially 3 and Rodgers gets hurried and needs to throw to the check down. Add in the league leading holding penalties and inability to run and this OL is dreadful right now.

MikeVic 10-05-2008 01:48 PM

Steelers OL is pretty bad too.

well he hasn't exactly been a fantasy owner's dream before this game with no TDs and Jonathan Stewart looking like the better player. Today though Williams rules

graygoose12 10-05-2008 01:56 PM

Sometimes I wonder if the announcers for NFL games are watching the same thing that we are.

In the Bears-Lions game, Marty Booker appears to make a catch at the Lions 1 1/2 yard line. The play gets called incomplete, but there is a pass interference penalty called at the 7 yard line.

Lovie Smith challenges the call, prior to the ruling the announcers say that it is silly to challenge the call, they already have the first down, and that they are only challenging to help their stats.

The play gets reversed, first down at the 1 1/2 yard line, and the announcers are still mentioning how they shouldn't have challenged.

sterlingice 10-05-2008 01:58 PM

Nice little bit of trickery in the Redskins/Eagles game. Handoff to Randle-El for the end around and it really looks like he's going to run it but he throws it to Cooley for a TD. Under review for past line of scrimmage but it doesn't look even close.

SI

Eaglesfan27 10-05-2008 01:58 PM

Darn, I sit Randel-El this week in fantasy and he throws a TD against the Eagles.

Rizon 10-05-2008 02:05 PM

Oh ok, the real Dolphin's have now shown up.

Sounds good. He was a pretty unheralded recruit coming into UCLA from Louisiana. As you said, he has a nose for the ball and was disappointed he fell so far, but I'm glad to see he's doing well

Izulde 10-05-2008 02:19 PM

Not starting Deangelo Williams is kicking my ass. :(

wade moore 10-05-2008 02:23 PM

Redskins lookin good in 2nd halves.

Radii 10-05-2008 02:27 PM

wow Kansas City is awful.

Yeah.. they aren't very good...

On a slightly different subject.. which team is worse right now? The Colts with Manning or the Patriots without Brady? The Texans are just dominating the Colts since the first quarter finished.

larrymcg421 10-05-2008 02:41 PM

That's it, Ronnie! Let's burn that clock.
