When did John Madden stop drawing on the screen?
As I was watching tonights game I noticed that Madden was not drawing on the screen anymore and wondered why, and how long has it been since he did. Is this something he lost when he went to NBC or does this go all the way back to his days at FOX.
I know people made fun of his elaborite drawing and his Batman like Language, (Biff, Boom, Bam) when he was drawing, but to me that was just Madden. I wonder why he game this up. |
I think it was when he moved to MNF. Can't remember for sure.

Hard to telestrate with sausage-like fingers.

You know who can really draw on a telestrator? Brett Favre.

I could have sworn I saw him drawing on the screen earlier this year on SNF.

Definately saw Madden drawing on the screen at least twice from memory during the Steelers game.

How about the coach's clicker. Back......and forth.......back......and forth. That was real innovative.

Funniest thing I ever saw from madden was prolly a decade or so ago, he was still paired with Summerall.
It was either a Cowboys or Packers game, hell maybe they were playing each other. Anyhoo Madden was talking about the trust the receivers have in Favre (or Aikman), and he telestrated a Gatorade bottle on top of a receiver's head, and said whoever it was would trust Brett (or Troy) or knock it off with a football. Then he telestrated the football, complete with a dotted line and whoosh lines, knocking the bottle off the receiver's head, and somehow made an analogy with William Tell out of the whole thing. Surreal. A buddy i was watching the game with and I still bring this up every season at least once. |
Reminds me of one of my favorite SNL skits. It was after the OJ trial and they had OJ back at his job with the NFL pregame show. He used the telestrater to show a play that one of the teams was gonna run, and when he was done it spelled out "I DID IT".
