NOFL: Preseason stage has begun! Deadline is 11/19/08 at 10 PM
 

Since none of you can convince guys to stay, I didn't try to convince my 2 transfer players and I just skipped ahead to the 2nd stage of the offseason which is accepting any players who can transfer in. I'm hopeful we can get through these stages daily, but will go with the consensus of 2 days for each of these offseason stages unless anyone has any strong objections.

We're pretty much just seeing who's leaving the school, correct? Because we cannot change anything about the transfers, right? I just want to make sure we all get this right :)

Actually, all you are doing is seeing if anyone wants to transfer to your school and accepting or refusing their transfer request. I've followed the models of the other leagues and skipped past the 1st part of the offseason where you try to convince people to stay since it won't work for anyone but the commish.

Done here, but I think there are still six or seven left to go. While I'm glad we're getting on with it, I wish I could've seen stage one. I know I lost my QB when I hit "Y", and I think I lost a junior corner.

I can't wait to play Texas A&M again next year.

Yeah, my bad on that. Next year, I'm going to see if I can look at every team's list and type up a report on who left early for each team. If I can't, we'll give everyone a day just to look at who is leaving early.

No transfer requests. We're ready.

Um, holy crap. So I don't have any pending transfers, which is fine.

But uh, my impact starting QB who was going to be a senior isn't on my team anymore. Also, my starting HB who ran for like 1600 yards and was going to be a senior isn't on my team anymore. And my best CB (rated 89) who was going to be a senior isn't on the team anymore. Did uh, they go to the pros or transfer? Uh, wtf. Their ratings were not nearly good enough to justify going to the pros (81 for the QB, 82 for the HB, and 89 for the CB). But uh, I was not prepared for this. I officially have no quality QB and a stable of super-slow HB's. and my secondary is going to take a huge hit. Any chance of winning it all has officially gone out the window. This doesn't even include any other losses that I'm not noticing right away. I only have 1 senior showing up on my team overview screen (accessed by hitting the Y button).

Am I the only one who got screwed like this? Losing one of these guys is bad enough but I lost the 3 best non-seniors on my team. I am in utter disbelief and it feels like everything I accomplished was for nothing. I guess this is like the Yankees complaining or something but Jesus Christ, this is freakin' ridiculous.

And scrolling across all of the other teams shows no more than THREE seniors on any given team. I'm so confused.

But anyway, I'm ready to advance or something. Advance to getting my ass kicked in 2009 :(

I don't think it's a big deal at all, unless you have some transfer requests...maybe not even then. We'll be able to see our rosters in the next stage.

I think they often leave based on good stats. In RFL, I had a DE in the low 80s who left after getting a lot of sacks last season, while my 90+ DE who was not productive stayed. You can comfort yourself with your championship trophy. ;)

Yeah...I don't think you're gunna get much sympathy from any of us :)

Ok, we have advanced to the fun part of the offseason - recruiting! I'm hoping to get daily stages done, but will give up to 3 days for this vital part of the offseason.

Hehe, sorry guys. Wasn't looking for any sympathy. I was just floored by losing so many players. I guess it was the best season I've had on NCAA 09 (of the 3 I've played). I didn't think that it would be so stat-based. I just figured that it would be ratings-based. If we exported our season to Madden then none of my players would get drafted (except my CB who would probably go in the 4th round or so).

I guess it's a good lesson going forward for everyone to realize that the guys you were counting on may not be there. Nothing too insightful, but what can you do. I'll be in bed tonight with my championship trophy and my awesome QB. Since I don't have an awesome QB, I'll just snuggle with the trophy ;)

Just wait until you see the changes I plan on for this Mississippi State football team. It won't turn us around right away, but I think it'll get us on the right track.

I'd rather not see the changes you have planned ;) I'm curious to see how all of the schedules will look for next season. Intraconference matchups and whatnot :)

Ok, we are in week 2. Deadline is 11/5/08 at 10PM, but I'm hoping we get done much sooner.

Washington signed a bunch of 3 star guys this past week.

I was swamped at work and missed the sim for transfers and departures -- hopefully I didn't miss something major.

But our disappointing season and frustrating recruiting haul turned around this week! Landed a 5-star HB, three more 4-stars and a few 3-stars. We now have the No. 12 class and have two of the top eight DT -- that should improve the defense.

Congrats to you guys on your solid classes so far. Kentucky will always be a school where the 2 & 3 star recruits attend :(

Yeah...I've got the 39th ranked class right now, and I don't look to get much better than that by the end of the recruiting period.

Heads up EF27... I will be out of town from Friday night until Tuesday night. On the full 3 day schedule, assuming we advance tonight I'll probably just miss the Tuesday night deadline. I don't mind you guys advancing without me if everybody else is done in this case.

FWIW, I'd rather have a 1 or 2 star recruit than some of the 4 or 5 star recruits.

Very true. I'm really impressed with some of the classes that people are putting together. I'm hoping to get 12-18 3-star recruits in my class but I think I'll probably only have one 4-star recruit (and no 5-star guys). Big props to you guys who got some of the "big fish" in our first offseason :)

Looking through some of the classes I'm really impressed with what Texas A&M is doing. If they can close out the offseason the right way then they will be a very scary team in the Big XII next year...along with about 6 other teams ;)

BTW, EF27, everyone is done for when you want to advance. I'll try to tear myself away from Gears of War 2 this weekend to do some recruiting :p

We have now advanced to week 3. Friday the 7th at 10PM is the deadline.

We've actually been going with a 2 day schedule for this part of the season, but hopefully we'll advance to week 4 by tomorrow night and you'll only miss week 5 when most of the good talent is gone. Once we get through this stage where rapid progress is relatively easy, we'll start spacing things out a bit more again.

Would anyone object to setting the deadline to say 7:30 or 8pm EST on Friday? Or does that not work for the west coast people? That will allow me to get things done before I leave. If not it's cool, but I think the missed week will KILL my class.

If everyone is done, I certainly will advance it before 7:30 or 8 on Friday night.

As long as I'm done w/ my recruiting, I'm fine with advancing whenever really. If I'm not done by the last day, I don't get home from work until 5ish.
