Ah, dang it Bobby...

King of the Hill won't be coming back for a 14th season.

Fox not renewing 'King of the Hill' - UPI.com

RendeR 10-31-2008 03:05 PM

I'm amazed this show lasted 5 years let alone 14. talk about awful.

Lathum 10-31-2008 03:07 PM

13 years to late IMO

Karlifornia 10-31-2008 03:09 PM

I kind of liked King of the Hill...haven't watched it in years, but I enjoyed it.

MikeVic 10-31-2008 03:09 PM

I think it's a good show. Great characters.

Pumpy Tudors 10-31-2008 03:11 PM

You know what always killed me about this show? Seemingly, Fox would never ever show you what the episode was going to be about. Their Sunday promos during football games pretty much went like this:

"Tonight on The Simpsons, Homer changes his name. [insert clip of Homer asking people to call him "Missy"] Then, following an all-new King of the Hill, on Family Guy, a love triangle turns Quahog upside down. [insert clip of Stewie, Brian, and one of the Muppets in bed] After that, American Dad celebrates Cinco de Mayo. [insert clip of Roger wearing a huge sombrero] TONIGHT ON FOX!"

Have there been any plots or subplots or anything on King of the Hill in the past 10 years, or do they just stand there and drink?

Butter 10-31-2008 03:11 PM

Love this show. Too bad, but it has had a good run.

QuikSand 10-31-2008 03:12 PM

It was all just a bad dream, don't worry!

Yes there are plots.

Pumpy Tudors 10-31-2008 03:13 PM

Great, now Ben E Lou is gonna come in here and fuck QuikSand because he made a Dallas reference. LET'S SHUT IT DOWN, EVERYBODY!

Nah, Ben is just hoping that is an animated GIF, and eventually Patrick Duffy is gonna drop the soap.

:D

Mustang 10-31-2008 03:24 PM

That show has been on 13 years????

You probably would like the episode where a dolphin violates Hank.

I totally agree. It always bugged me as well.

I watched maybe six or seven episodes of this show during the first year or two it was on. I always really enjoyed it. I just never watched. It made me happy to know it was still on. I still have a hard time not adding the phrase "and propane accessories" every time I say the word "propane."

I'd take King of The Hill over Family Guy or American Dad every day of the week and twice on Tuesdays. I fucking hate those god awful shows. They're nothing but cream crap.

Maple Leafs 10-31-2008 03:45 PM

Funny typo in that article -- it says the show has been on for 14 years, instead of 4.

I remember when it debuted, and if it had actually been on for 14 years that would make me, geez, how old... um... wait a second.

Oh fuck.

Maybe if they had teased that shit in a preview, the show would stay on the air and we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Alan T 10-31-2008 03:55 PM

I remember this show first came on when I lived in Dallas.. the main guy from the show completely reminded me of the father of a SMU grad student that I dated for a few years while living in Texas. For some reason, I just never could bother to watch more than 5 minutes of the show.

lungs 10-31-2008 04:14 PM

Unlikely though it may be (as I think the show goes some places it shouldn't & is just flat out wrong a lot of the time) I'd say FG is one of the best pop culture skewers of at least the last couple of decades. It's no Robot Chicken in that regard but it's still well above average IMO, infinitely funnier & smarter than the vastly overrated South Park.

Scarecrow 10-31-2008 04:24 PM

I'm going to kick your ass...

I'm not a huge fan of South Park really. That said, it certainly has had its moments.

I've only caught a few episodes of FG early on, back when it first came out and didn't find it smart or funny in any possible way. Maybe it hadn't hit it's stride yet. It's entirely possible.

Based on the few episodes I watched, I found it incredibly stupid and completely unfunny. I may give it another shot. I like to keep an open mind.

Swaggs 10-31-2008 05:00 PM

Always enjoyed it, but haven't watched it for years.

Schmidty 10-31-2008 05:05 PM

:(

My favorite show finally bites it.

molson 10-31-2008 07:02 PM

I was mildly amused whenever I stumbled across the show. It was unique, in a way, a cartoon that was kind of reserved, not in your face.

How long will the Simpsons and FG keep going?

FG is one of my favorite shows, but I haven't enjoy it as much since they came back (it's still funny). I don't know why. I can't put my finger on exactly why. Of course, South Park is hasn't been great IMO in the last two seasons or so.

st.cronin 10-31-2008 08:10 PM

King of the Hill was a unique and wonderful show. I'll miss it.

Matthean 10-31-2008 09:18 PM

Good, maybe Beavis and Butthead can make a comeback now... :D I remember when Mike Judge made the switch and I was thinking how much of a bad decision it was and how it would never pan out.

PS, I don't recall seeing FG when it first came out, but whenever I see it now, which is rare, it just comes off feeling like it's trying to be fun when it isn't. A number of people have said it's not as funny as it use to be. I've worked with a couple of guys who can pretty much endlessly quote from the show though.

Bad-example 10-31-2008 10:03 PM

I will miss King of the Hill. I've always found it to be a very watchable (although not particularly funny) show. They were extremely consistent with what they did.

Vegas Vic 10-31-2008 11:27 PM

Cartman's all-time favorite "King of the Hill" clip:

cartman 10-31-2008 11:38 PM

uh, no. :D

My favorite one, I'll have to find the clip, was when Hank asked if the video store clerk was calling him a liar, or if it was the computer that was calling him a liar, so he'd know whose ass to kick. When the clerk said the computer never lies, Hank picked up the monitor and asked "Where's the ass on this thing, so I can start kicking it."

stevew 11-01-2008 12:21 AM

I had no idea they were still making new episodes.

Atocep 11-01-2008 01:54 AM

I never watched this show as much as I would have liked to, but if you've ever lived in Texas then the show is hilarious.

Terps 11-01-2008 09:53 PM

That sucks... This is one of my favorite shows.

lungs 09-13-2009 06:17 PM

This is it tonight. :(

kingfc22 09-13-2009 06:18 PM

This show was on for 13 years? Wow!

Izulde 09-13-2009 06:38 PM

I agree with those that say while this show may not have been the funniest or something you have to watch every time it was on, there was something very quietly quality and enjoyable about it.

Yeah, I'm really bummed. :(

Hopefully, the rumor of it getting picked up by another network is true.

Nope. Even his next series never got the greenlight even though it was King of the Hill 2.0. Rumors are swirling he's getting back to his best idea.

Ugh. Going from an intelligent, witty, pretty funny and good for the entire family show, back to a juvenile, played-out fart and poop show.......nice.
