For anyone looking to make a little more money from home

I signed up for this a while ago and have put in a little bit of time but didnt want to post anything about it officially until I got my first check. Well I did so here goes:

Liveops.com

you basically are a live operator to take phone call orders for all sorts of things like free info packets for Life Alert and Directbuy to selling Shark VX3 vacuums or P90X workout stuff.

Anyways, you need a homephone line dedicated to it, a phone that can take a headset, a noise canceling headset, and a computer and some quiet around you when youre doing it.

It basically works like this:

you login to their chat service thingy
the phone rings while the script 'pops' up on your screen
you 'read' the script with some variances when needed
Fill in their info

you get $.25/minute plus bonuses for upselling some stuff but it boils down to ~$10/hr or a little more with bonuses. Ive read on their forums that some people put in a bunch of hours and have goals they reach of $3K / month...but that's a lot of hours.

so if anyone has a partner who stays at home and wishes to bring in a little dough this could be it. My next check is going to be about $230 (for 2 wks) and I did about 20 hours b/w those 2 wks while watching TV (hit mute).

My agent number is 55534 and name is Howard Flaschen if it helps you get in. Some of the stuff isn't much fun to sell like the debt cures book but its a little extra money AND since you're an independent contractor, should you need to get a better computer.....tax writeoff AND you can write off a home office too.

Anyways, times are tough so a little extra dough a month during your free time (if you have any) from home couldnt hurt IMO so I thought I'd share it with you all.

sounds interesting, may check this out.

There's a lot of virtual work-at-home stuff out there now. If people are interested I can dig up a couple links to ones that are legit, featuring all different sorts of work (data entry, working phones, etc).

MikeVic 11-19-2008 11:07 AM

In the U.S. only, or Canada too?

dunno, go to their site and see? I know we take orders from people in Canada and your weird postal addresses.

MJ4H 11-19-2008 11:22 AM

I would love to have a list of legit things like that. Thanks to anyone who can do that. Options in times of need or even want are great.

Flasch186 11-19-2008 11:35 AM

the first one I posted is legit as I just got my first check. The cost to setup was minimal and the $50 criminal check is warranted considering you collect people's credit card info and stuff. I made that back during the 30 training calls since you get paid for those.

This is the best site I've found for real, legit work at home sites.

Work at home jobs, telecommuting opportunities, mystery shopping, transcription and more

You'll see that most have been vetted already, and there's a wide variety of type of work. I obviously haven't done work for most of them. The two that I had some experience with were Escriptionist, and Morningside (http://www.ascllc.net/). They're both transcription firms I did work for when our transcription business was low on work. Pay reasonably well and have lots of work.

Good luck all

any idea if you could use a VOIP line?

Flasch186 11-19-2008 08:20 PM

I dont think Liveops allows for that from what Ive read.

PackerFanatic 11-19-2008 08:48 PM

I'd love a decent list too - I have done some looking myself but can never tell which ones are legit or not. A little extra income never hurt, especially around the holidays.

Flasch186 11-27-2008 09:07 PM

anyone have any luck signing up for this? Just wondering.

CU Tiger 11-27-2008 11:25 PM

wife signed up took the test, voice sample and the special aptitude deal.
Now she is just waiting to hear back.

She wants to redo our bathroom to the tune of 20k.....yeah 20k!!!! I have been telling her no f'ing way unless she pays for it. (Stay at home mom) she is out to prove she can. At this point I am going to lose even if she pimps herself out to prove me wrong.

Flasch186 12-05-2008 03:28 PM

Just found out that on 12/10, Liveops will be the ONLY call center taking calls for the UFC special to benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund so when you call to donate I could be on the other end of the line. Just thought that that is pretty cool.

Flasch186 01-10-2009 09:45 PM

Just wanted to know if anyone else got in on this. Ive slacked off on it and am not taking calls like I should but it just seems like easy money if you can get in. If anyone has any questions let me know. I am not getting a kick back or anything but I know times are tough so I am just trying to help out my peeps here if anyone needs a little dough to make the two ends meet.

Tasan 01-10-2009 09:55 PM

I may be looking at doing this soon. I have call center experience, about 3 years of it 5 years back. How hard is it to get into?

Flasch186 01-10-2009 10:07 PM

well apparently you apply, and then if/when they respond via email you fill out some docs and send 'em $50 for a background check since youre taking people's credit card info/bank account info (im not kidding), so it's justified IMO. then you have 30 days to get 30 calls of over :45 each to 'graduate' and then you head off to the regular workload which you can 'commit' to :30 minute blocks, or work uncommitted (although I think you need to work some blocks on occasion). anyways, Ive been a slacker lately but it seems like easy $ and averages out to be about $12-13 from home {shrug}

stevew 01-10-2009 10:30 PM

Might be a good way to earn some extra cash. Will have to look into it.

Flasch186 01-10-2009 10:32 PM

yeah, im going to take some calls tomorrow and make some dough. Maybe $20 or so, maybe 90 minutes. It's lunch money but it's frickin' from home and Ive been so lazy to do it. All I have to do is go in the office, sit down, log in and take some calls -reading from a script no less but my slack ass would rather sit on the couch. grrrr

stevew 01-10-2009 11:15 PM

Does anyone know how it works when you take a deduction for a 1099? Basically my other 1099 job I write off more than I make and was wondering if that "surplus" could also be used to offset an additional 1099. Something like this would be perfect if so.

Mike Lowe 02-16-2009 08:38 PM

Been thinking about doing this for some extra vacation cash. I have summers off but wouldn't mind starting now.

I do not have a landline...are there other legit opportunities available?

Flasch186 02-16-2009 10:35 PM

I dont know, but with this I know it's lefit but I havnt been taking many calls since I started high school soccer reffingh but Ive had it stay active (one call every couple of weeks) just to know that i have something that I could use to make extra $ if needed.

PilotMan 02-17-2009 09:34 AM

So when you say dedicated line, do you mean a business line? Or an extra home phone line? Also, what would I expect to pay for the required equipment to get started. My wife and I are talking about it, but I need to know what the cost to get started is. Thanks

Flasch186 02-17-2009 02:04 PM

I just use my homephone line and turned off call waiting. $20/mo or so. A phone that can be hardwired in, not a headset one (so ~$40?) BUT also allows you to plug in a cheap headset into a port for it (~$20). High speed internet (you probably already have). Credit check / Background check ($50 or so).

I made it all back during my 30 training calls.

Flasch186 07-11-2009 11:01 AM

I just saw they did another round of hiring and now theyre doing outbound calls too, which is people who called in to order something and than bailed at some point during the process. I think they offer spanish speaking stuff too...

so if anyone is looking to pick up a little dough on the side or in need go for it.

If you cant afford to pay for the background check, send me a PM and Ill see if there is something I can do to help you out on the front end.

PilotMan 08-11-2009 10:34 AM

Thought that I would mention that my wife and I both are in the process of applying here. Flasch I used your number on both apps.

Flasch186 08-11-2009 11:02 AM

Cool, good luck.

It isnt going to load the bank up but it is a way to make some extra money from home. I would never think of doing it FT but as a PT gig, hoping to make a couple hundred bucks a month it's an easy way to do so.

When you get on I highly recommend spending some time in the forums to learn some tricks, and rules, and such.

Lemme know how it goes.
