Black Friday - What'd you get

I decided to stock up on TV shows:

Shield Seasons 2-6
Rescue Me Seasons 1-4

16 bucks a pop at Best Buy

Band of Brothers on Blu Ray - 75 bucks

Tropic Thunder on Blu Ray - 20 bucks

All told I spent like 220 or something.

I'm content.

Whatabout everyone else?

DaddyTorgo 11-28-2008 02:18 PM

ooh - guess I could have got Shield on DVD, or Rome Season 2 (still never seen it) but I slept

Rich1033 11-28-2008 02:19 PM

I went at 1 pm, and was there 20 minutes.

No problems at all.

Raiders Army 11-28-2008 02:23 PM

Sharp 22" TV/DVD combo for $350.
Gold heart necklace for $50.
Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay and the Zohan DVDs for $20.
Some Blu-Ray movies from amazon.com.

That's about it.

Same here. The wife is at Kohl's to get some new jeans, but that's the extent of our shopping today.

Mustang 11-28-2008 02:34 PM

Xbox 360 Arcade with Guitar Hero 3 bundle. Replaces my broken stuff.

Big Fo 11-28-2008 02:36 PM

I got four seasons of Entourage at $9.99 each and bought a Blu-Ray player for my mom and dad.

I was going to get a game or three but they were all full price so that can wait.

sterlingice 11-28-2008 04:01 PM

Mostly copied from the Amazon thread:

I actually stayed up until 3 (well, I was watching a movie until 2 so 3 wasn't a big deal) for Amazon's Black Friday games and got the following:

$30 Fallout 3 (PC)
$20 Boom Blox (Wii)
$10 Resident Evil 4 (Wii)
$10 N+ (DS)

And I bought some games from the EBGames B2G1 on Wednesday since they started a day early so I didn't worry about shopping at all today :)

Fuck Black Friday. It's a bullshit concept that has been built up to mythic proportions over that last couple of decades, and the buildup of this as an "event" has become a vicious cycle of self-fulfilling prophecy of frenzy - witness the shootings and the trampling/heart-attack incidents today.

sterlingice 11-28-2008 04:20 PM

Well, some of us trampled many harmless and defenseless IP packets on their way to routers to save some money :D

Is Cyber-Monday for real? Will Amazon have DVDs (for example) at a discount or on special, compared to today or other days?

Cringer 11-28-2008 05:45 PM

Grabbed a 19" LCD tv/computer monitor for my daughter. Now she can stop using the 21" TV my parents bought for the family TV when I was 11. I didn't even have a TV in my room in high school, spoiled brat. ;) She can also use it as her monitor for her laptop now, since I kind of broke the monitor on it. Got her a 6'x4' soccer goal to practice with. Got her a Wii game, don't remember which one. Got myself a PS3 game and one of those video game chairs with wireless speakers. It was a good deal and I like it more then I would have thought. Almost got a new PC and almost got a new family TV, but we backed off of those. The TV has been something we have been building up to getting so we probably get one over the next couple months or so.

DeTox got Band of Brothers on Blu-Ray? I am jealous. I have the DVD set, but knowing that is out there may mean I have to pick it up sometimes down the road anyways.

Cringer 11-28-2008 05:46 PM

Oh, and we got some $2 towels at Target, the were better quality then the Wal-Mart $1.50 towels. :)

Pumpy Tudors 11-28-2008 05:48 PM

32" TV for the bedroom. Sears didn't have it in stock by the time we'd gotten there (about 2:30pm), but they ordered it for us, and we'll be able to pick it up on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. I'm happy with that. I also went bowling afterwards and bowled a pair of 200+ games, so I'm also happy with that. Good day. Good day.

EagleFan 11-28-2008 05:58 PM

Got some stuff for the girls for Christmas but got it online at the same price as going to the store with no hassle of standing in the crowd.

Yeah man. Looks awesome too. I just watched the first episode. Highly suggest it.

Plus, HBO is doing a new miniseries this year called "The Pacific" from Tom Hanks and the guys behind Band of Brothers. It's about 3 marines doing battle with the Japanese in the Pacific during WW II. I'm all fired up for that.

Izulde 11-28-2008 06:16 PM

Didn't get anything because of the sales tax being nearly double what it is back home, but I found stuff to put on my Christmas list and got a few gift ideas for people.

Tasan 11-28-2008 06:17 PM

A Wii with all the trimmings and a cheap 1tb hard drive. My home built pvr will be so much nicer with all that space.

RedKingGold 11-28-2008 07:16 PM

G/F got up at 3:00 A.M to go to Wal-Mart and fight off many for the $128 Blu-Ray player.

I love her.

k0ruptr 11-28-2008 07:20 PM

50 inch plasma tv, JVC HDD camcorder, and samsung 10.2 MP digi cam

was in line from 11:30 pm, that put me at about 70th place.

Poli 11-28-2008 07:37 PM

Oof. That player's going to be $129 pretty much everywhere the week before Christmas. Hope she didn't miss out on deals anywhere else to get it.

Terps 11-28-2008 09:01 PM

I wish I could say I slept but I worked 9:30-9:30, but I have the next 2 days off, so I guess that's okay.

mattlanta 11-28-2008 11:40 PM

I was going to get some Flex Points over at Goal Line Blitz, but I ended up not doing so for some stupid yet unknown reason. Damn... 50% off.

CleBrownsfan 11-29-2008 04:39 AM

Got to Best Buy around 5:00 am to get the Garmin GPS for $119 and a Razor phone for the wife ($49). Picked up Entorage season 2-3 for $10 each. And Assassins Creed for the PC for $10. Got the baby a pretty sweet wooden train set from Toy-R-Us for $80 - comes with the train set and a decent size table. That's about it.. lines and the people were pretty calm.

sachmo71 11-29-2008 09:56 AM

Got a 23'' HD\DVD combo LCD from Circuit City for $400. Xbox 360 in HD = a whole new world. Do you know how much easier Burnout Paradise is when you can see the map?

Bad-example 11-29-2008 11:36 AM

Got a t-shirt: My Parents Went To Wal-Mart On Black Friday And All They Got Was Trampled To Death

Picked up the above off amazon.com last night. Probably spent about $1k total yesterday.

cougarfreak 11-29-2008 09:04 PM

I didn't have to go out on Friday. On Wednesday, Sam's had a one time buy on a Vizio 42" LCD with 1080p for $698, so I grabbed it then.

Cringer 11-30-2008 01:45 AM

Has to run to Wal Mart today for some cucumbers for the pregnant wife, and checked to see if they had any more Boom Blox since yesterday. They sure did, so I grabbed on for the still $20 price. Great game for the whole family so far as we all just finished playing it together.

Two questions out of curiousity. Would you have bought this stuff had it not been on sale? How much did you save overall? It seems like "Black Friday" is a good way to spend $1000 you normally wouldn't have spent just to "save" a hundred bucks.
