NBC's "MILF Island"

Great stuff. We're watching Season 2 of 30 Rock on DVD. Great show.

PackerFanatic 12-04-2008 09:16 AM

I have heard good things about this show but just haven't gotten around to checking it out. Worth it?

Kodos 12-04-2008 09:18 AM

Definitely. Unless you like that Blue Collar show. Then it's probably not for you. ;)

PackerFanatic 12-04-2008 09:19 AM

Definitely not, haha.

Kodos 12-04-2008 09:20 AM

It has a great cast of characters. Fey and Alec Baldwin in particular are hilarious.

chesapeake 12-04-2008 09:21 AM

Baldwin and Fey work very, very well together. Sometimes, two actors just click.

The strange thing about this show for me is that all of the rest of the cast, with the possible exception of Jack McBrayer, could be dumped tomorrow and replaced en masse without losing anything. It might even improve the show.

Kodos 12-04-2008 09:24 AM

Jane Krakowski (of Ally McBeal fame) is also pretty entertaining in a self-mocking way.

Ronnie Dobbs2 12-04-2008 09:27 AM

I think that both Tracy Morgan and Jane Krakowski are good and important parts of the show.

And Dr. Spaceman.

ISiddiqui 12-04-2008 09:28 AM

30 Rock is a phenomenal show. Tiny Fey is just brilliant.

Honolulu_Blue 12-04-2008 09:28 AM

It's a great show. Some very hilarious moments.

While Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin do shine above the rest, I think some of the other cast members are pretty funny. Jane Krakowski and Tracy Morgan in particular.

I'm not a fan of everything Tracy Morgan does on the show but there are just some scenes with him that are pure gold.

ISiddiqui 12-04-2008 09:32 AM

I love how Tracy Morgan says "Liz Lemon" every time he talks to her. As if he just said Liz, she wouldn't know he was talking to her :D.

chesapeake 12-04-2008 09:37 AM

I'm not saying that other cast members aren't funny. I'm saying that none of them are so funny that you couldn't fire them and replace them with an equally amusing, quirky character.

I think the show started with the intent of being more of an ensemble effort, but when Baldwin and Fey turned out to be so good together and the other characters ended up being just OK, the show became wholly centered on those two and the rest were pushed out to the periphery.

+1.

I also think Dot Com does a very good job with only 1 or 2 lines on a show. He supports Tracy Morgan's schtick well.

Big Fo 12-04-2008 10:06 AM

This is the only currently airing non-sports show that I make sure to watch.

Fey and Baldwin do make the show but I also enjoy the lesser characters, they aren't all completely replaceable IMO. Toofer needs more screen time.

kingnebwsu 12-04-2008 02:31 PM

Best show on TV?

All signs point to "yes" :)

GrantDawg 12-04-2008 02:39 PM

I Love Kenneth (who is from about 3 miles from my house btw).

rowech 12-04-2008 02:42 PM

I've been a little disappointed this year. Last year was definitely it's best season so far.

I haven't been thrilled with all of the "special guest stars" either. (Though Matthew Broderick was hillarious in last year's season finale.)

The Oprah thing was ok, because she was barely on. But I really didn't feel the need to see Jennifer Anniston and Steve Martin act all batshit crazy. All they were doing was annoying me and taking valuable screen time from the characters that actually are funny.

That said, I really liked certain scenes. Tracy Jordan as a white woman, while very disturbing, was hilarious.

And that brief scene of Liz Lemon as a potential juror when she was dressed up as Princess Leia and said "I don't think it's fair for me to sit on a jury because I can read minds" was priceless.

I expected something else when I read the title.

I'll leave the kickass deconstruction of the show to all of the comedy experts here at FOFC, but I will just add one thing: WHO DAT NINJA?

Agreed...Last season I laughed throughout episodes whereas this season, it's a couple of times an episode.

Neuqua 12-04-2008 05:38 PM

I netflixed through this show in a week's time. But I love most of Tina Fey's material.

Tracey Morgan is playing himself in real life pretty much.

Better than Season 1 not as good as Season 2 IMO.

Season 2 of Extras is close to the top for me.

Agreed...not to threadjack, but season 2 of Extras was so good in my mind that every episode made me think "these bits had to have been done before...comedy couldn't have been around this long and not had this happen previously"

Neon_Chaos 12-05-2008 08:12 AM

Good show. I would rather have Studio 60 though.
