Commercials we're sick of
The Dodge Ram truck race series. Dear God, make them stop.
A distant second: Anything with the line "You pay what we pay" in it. |
Subway 5 dollar footlong
|
"That's the money you could be saving from Geico!"

Fuck you Beyonce, you can't upgrade shit.

No way...that pile 'o cash with googly eyes cracks me up every time. The Volkswagen ads are starting to wear on me a bit. Though I am intrigued by those redheaded twins. |
Jos. A Bank
Anything to do with Jared the Geico cavemen |
More recently, NetZero blatantly trying to convince me that switching to their dial-up is worth the savings of $300/year over fast internet.
I'm just like, "are you fucking kidding me?" .. |
All the Geico commercials, and the Lincoln/Mercury "this is what America needs, right now" commercials.

Cues someone with Tivo or DVR asking "what are these commercial things you speak of."
|
Commissioner of the More Taste League? What the fuck does that even mean? Waste of a potentially funny actor, and grating as hell.
|
Quote:
*raises hand* it's pretty rare for me to watch live TV, although I think I've seen most of the ones on this list (and also that annoying Geico chick with the tricked out name tag). the one exception is when I'm in bed, so most of the commercials I see are those late night tackyfests for selling your old gold (will my cash come in a perfect fan like the folks on TV?) or crappy shit like Finally Fast...FinallyFast.COM! |
Quote:
good call. or those terrible Coors Lite coaches commercials - most fall under the good idea, terrible execution blanket. |
Those shit Lexus commercials where people get cars for Christmas.
|
I'm sick of the competition between Miller's "more taste" and Bud's "better drinkability". How do you define more taste? I'm assuming that skunk piss would have more taste than any beer. That doesn't make it a good thing. And better drinkability? Congratulations, you've just made a drink that is closer to water than any other drink.
|
On a similar note, one of these days I'm going to look up what "dry-hopped" and "top-fermented" actually mean. I have a feeling I'm going to be very underwhelmed.
|
Diabetus.
It's my money and I need it now. The one where the lady says her "Jewl uh ree" is worth money. Anything talking about "male enhancement" ffs |
What, are you nuggnuts?
That does not extend to the "mcnuggets lovin'" faux-soul song, which is awesome. "Girl, you got a 10 piece, please don't be stingy" |
I'm pretty well sick of most of the ones mentioned here, too hard to pick one that I'm sickest of.
On the bright side though, there's a chance you'll see less of some of these than normal soon since TV ad sales for January seem to be even more abysmal than usual. On the down side, if any of these folks decide to keep spending, you may actually see them even more than usual (since prices are pretty soft right now). |

Yes...and I think the girl in the commercial is Daphne Duplaix, which gains points. |

no no, that would be Corona, with water == Corona Light. |
The Lexus part of the commercials may suck, but seeing a mint, vintage Big Wheel...that was sweet.

Any Carl's Jr commercial. Any Jareds commerical. ANY BILLY MAYS COMMERICAL!!!!!!!!
|
Quote:
Wait, no hand brake? How do you do a cool turn-around stop? Quote:
Heh. Even my kids know who Billy Mays is. It may be new, but the ESPN360 "spoof" commercial with Billy Mays is pretty clever. This thread reminds me - the Snuggie is really tempting. Not the maroon one though. Those make the people in the commercial look too much like monks. |
I like the Subway commercials.
|
Their appeal to me goes down once the hula dancers are off the screen.
|
Freecreditreport.com still tops my list. Instant rush for the mute button.
Burger King commercials - all of them. Consistently annoying commercials, year in and year out. Not just annoying, but embarrassingly inept. Now it is the "whopper virgins". This latest batch is more pathetic than outright annoying. |

That sums it up really well actually. However, I reserve the right to add any past, present or future commercials of his. Disclaimer: I actually wouldn't mind his commercials so much IF HE WASN'T YELLING AT ME EACH AND EVERY TIME!! Because he can not control the volume of his voice, he should have his "I can be on TV" card revoked. |

Who's the audience here? How much money do you need to have lying around that you can spend $20,000+ on a surprise gift for your spouse? My wife would kill me in the driveway if I did that. |

Presumably based on the assumption that you had a large and well-funded life insurance policy? ;) |
I like the More Taste League commercials because of how big of a jerk the Commish is. It sounds like the kind of over-the-top ridiculous stuff that I'd come up with while hanging out with friends.
The Coors commercials can be funny, or at least not cringe-worthy. I hate the nuggnuts commercial. McDonalds advertising in general is miserable. |
The "word" "nuggnuts" just sounds... obscene to me.
|
Quote:
This is hardly fair- it's like people who only listen to top 40 stations complaining about overplayed songs. JIMGA isn't allowed to complain about commercials ;) SI |
Quote:
Too close to "truck nuts" for me SI |
Quote:
Don't blame me, business is so bad for us lately that I'm watching a hell of alot more commercials than I'm responsible for :( |
I've added nuggnuts to my personal lexicon, but only in terms of "my nuggnuts". As in "I'd like to get my nuggnuts all over that young lady". Or "My nuggnuts would really liven up this party".
|
That quick shot of the nugget wedding cake makes me nauseous every time.
|
Quote:
Yes. I agree, and I've had several people tell me that, completely unsolicited. Now, that's good advertising, people. |
Quote:
While I agree with this, there must be SOMETHING to the ad campaign. When I woke up from my surgery, I was craving McNuggets. Prior to this, I hadn't had a McNugget in YEARS, let alone never craved them. My mom got me a 6 piece. ;) /tk |
Quote:
That's not the ad campaign, that's the drugs. |
Quote:
That's what my mom blamed it on, too. The drugs and that it was 3 in the afternoon and I hadn't eaten since the night before... I still think it had at least a little to do with the ad. I mean, usually when I want nugget-sized things of some sort, I want Chick-Fil-A.. /tk |
All of the "OMG WE DIDNT REALLY MAKE THIS IT'S FROM PIZZA HUT" commercials.
oh my god die in a wood chipper |
Quote:
You and mom need to have the math talk. |

While I know this is a gripe thread, I'd offer a semi-defense of the "drinkability" commercials for Bud Light. I agree that the term does reinforce everything I dislike about light beer in general, but I think the ads are more well made than most beer ads. I think they are generally clever, the faux freeze frame works well enough, and the use of visuals is pretty effective. I'm not saying I love the ads, but I think they are better than the average beer ad campaign, and probably the best among them going right now, in my view.
Plus, the football tailgate one features a woman (the one who does the talking) who really, really appeals to me. So there's that, too. |
